The Kremlin is reportedly set to offer concessions on the Ukraine war to U.S. President Donald Trump to avoid imminent sanctions on the country.
Bloomberg detailed on Tuesday that one such proposal could include an air truce. Quoting Russian officials, it added that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff's visit to Russia this week presents a chance to reach an agreement. The official is expected to go to the country as soon as Wednesday and could potentially meet with Putin.

Bloomberg noted that despite Putin's willingness to continue fighting, two-thirds of Russians favor ending the war at the current positions. A quarter want to continue fighting, according to the independent Levada Center pollster in Moscow.

“That confirms at least 25% of Russians are both stupid and cowards.”
I bet most of that 25% are neither young men of military age nor do they have sons that are young men of military age.
“pause in drone and missile strikes”
“The idea of an “air truce” was also raised last week by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during talks with Putin on Aug. 1, though the Russian president did not comment publicly. Lukashenko previously discussed the concept with Trump’s Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg during a rare U.S. visit to Belarus in June.”
I hope Russia keeps some of what they captured.
If they are smart they would have yes. And if planning such mischief as the Ukraine invasion.
“”””President Putin, can I have a 30-day truce (while the US, EU and Ukraine boost arms production and Ukraine trains about 50,000 more soldiers)?Nyet, Steve, nyet!””””
You oppose the American position in support of the Russian side?
“the arrival of the elite Russian drone unit Rubicon.
While also operating standard radio first-person view (FPV) drones, Rubicon specializes in the use of long-range fiber optic FPVs, designed to reach and consistently strike Ukrainian targets deeper in the rear than was understood to be possible.”
What might be done is to construct wire fences. Each section might be 200 feet long, with a slight overlap and offset at each section end.
A fiber optic cable cutter could cut drone fiber optic cables that land on a wire.
It is easier for the defense to construct such wire fences.
“You oppose the American position in support of the Russian side?”
If the goal is to save lives, taking a position that will not get accepted is pointless.
This means DC wants an “air-truce” and is putting the idea out in the Mockingbird Press.
That would allow NATO to start immediate “no-fly” zones and air patrols... to enforce the “air-truce” ya know.
This is a preemptive move because Russia is now building and mass producing those Iranian Shahid drones under license.
It’s to the point that in the next month or two they expect to be able to launch 2000 nightly.
The DC/London axis is trying to do an end run.
That was vague, with the ifs, but it did come out as yes, you support Russia and oppose the American desire for a cease fire.
My thoughts exactly. I’d so love to see this thing end, but I don’t trust Putin, Zelensky or the media.
“Russian attacks here most often follow the treelines dividing up the vast fields of the Ukrainian steppe, and with Ukraine now relying more on drones to stop them, the concealment offered by the thick summer vegetation makes the job a lot harder.”
“We are mostly targeting bushes”
“The bastards just keep disappearing in the thick foliage, we just need to strike nearby so they’ll crawl out and show themselves.”
“Since April, it’s been small infantry groups that creep in along the fields and trees, from 1-5 people.”
“And yet only the imminent threat of those sanctions is what prompted this supposed considering of an offer from Putin.”
The article does not offer a single source saying any such offer has been made, or is coming. This is a “fake-it-till-you-make-it” news story designed to try to push them into it. The reason is that we can then start no-fly zone patrols, and it means we can relax on the crunch for sending them SAMS which are in very short supply.
This is a wishful thinking article... just watch. Russia is not so stupid as to fall for this. And India and Brazil have both rejected the tariffs and pointed out that WE buy more from Russia than they do, Titanium, Uranium, Fertilizer and more. India comedically told them that we should stop trading with Russia before demanding that they do so.
And Brazil sells us about 15% of our beef.
The sanctions are going to fall apart if they ever even start. Try telling consumers that skyrocketing beef prices are because of tariffs to support Ukraine.
“That was vague, with the ifs, but it did come out as yes, you support Russia and oppose the American desire for a cease fire.”
Having Trump’s envoy talk to the Russians about a ceasefire is going to be as productive as me talking to my bathroom mirror.
I wasn’t interested in predictions of success or failure, I just wanted to know which side you support, America or Russia, which you answered.
Putin is an imperialist running dog. A mad dog that needs to be muzzled and leashed.
They aren’t sanctions. They are tariffs and if they remain tariffs it’s great. Let India choose cheap Russian oil over trading with the US or better yet let them pay the US to buy Russian oil. Either way. 25% is their baseline. 10% for BRICS and an extra 20% Russian oil tax and their tariff rate is quite substantial. They trade 132 billion…A nice chuck of change for the U.S. Pay down some debt, maybe a dividend. They can do what’s in their best interest but the the Treasury will get its pound if you choose to continue trading.
“they expect to be able to launch 2000 nightly”
Ukraine shoots 85% to 95% of them down.
That means about 100 to 300 a day might reach a target with about 200 pounds of explosive. That’s 10 to 30 tons worth of explosive.
Metropolitan Kiev is about 350 square miles. There are other targets in Ukraine.
WIKI
The German city of Cologne was bombed in 262 separate air raids by the Allies during World War II, all by the Royal Air Force (RAF). A total of 34,711 long tons (35,268 t) of bombs were dropped on the city causing 20,000 civilian casualties.
The first ever thousand-bomber raid by the RAF was conducted on Cologne during the night of 30–31 May 1942.
In the raid, 868 aircraft bombed the main target with 15 aircraft bombing other targets. The total tonnage of bombs dropped was 1,478 tonnes (3.3 million pounds) with two-thirds of that being incendiaries. Two and a half thousand separate fires were started with 1,700 classed by the German fire brigades as “large”. The action of fire fighters and the width of the streets stopped the fires combining into a firestorm, but nonetheless most of the damage was done by fire and not directly by the explosive blasts. 3,330 non-residential buildings were destroyed, 2,090 seriously damaged and 7,420 lightly damaged, making a total of 12,840 buildings of which 2,560 were industrial or commercial buildings. Among the buildings classed as totally destroyed were: 7 official administration buildings, 14 public buildings, 7 banks, 9 hospitals, 17 churches, 16 schools, 4 university buildings, 10 postal and railway buildings, 10 buildings of historic interest, 2 newspaper offices, 4 hotels, 2 cinemas and 6 department stores. The only military installation damaged was the flak barracks.

“They are tariffs”
spices?
generic drugs?
Apple cellphones?
India mainly exports services to the USA I believe.
How do you tariff claim processing or software development?
If India is the sole supplier, then the customer must pay up.
It can take months to learn how to modify a software program correctly.
“They are tariffs and if they remain tariffs it’s great. Let India choose cheap Russian oil over trading with the US”
Is the EU going to partner with Trump on India tariffs?
Did Trump even ask them to go along?
Why or why not?
