Russia on Tuesday weighed into the growing spat between India and the U.S., with the Kremlin saying New Delhi is free to choose its own trading partners.

The Kremlin, an important trading partner of India's and one which had stayed silent as the spat erupted in the last few days, commented Tuesday that Trump's tariff threats are "attempts to force countries to stop trade relations with Russia."
"We do not consider such statements to be legitimate," Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov continued, speaking to reporters Tuesday.
"We believe that sovereign countries should have, and have the right to choose their own trade partners, partners in trade and economic cooperation. And to choose those trade and economic cooperation regimes that are in the interests of a particular country."
The dispute between Trump and New Delhi is being closely watched by investors after Trump threatened on Monday that he would be "substantially raising" the tariffs on India, although he did not specify the level of the higher levies. The president had threatened a 25% duty on Indian exports, as well as an unspecified "penalty" last week.
He also accused India of buying discounted Russian oil and "selling it on the Open Market for big profits."
On Tuesday, Trump told CNBC's "Squawk Box" that the tariff threshold could be hiked above 25% in the next 24 hours.
"India has not been a good trading partner ... so we settled on 25%, but I think I'm going to raise that very substantially over the next 24 hours, because they're buying Russian oil, they're fueling the war machine, and if they're going to do that, I'm not going to be happy," Trump said.

People forget that after Biden/his handlers imposed the oil sanctions against Russia, Russia sold their oil to India at a high price and India turned around and sold the Russian oil to Europe at a higher price. The Europeans got the weanie.

Yes. And we can choose our trading partners as well.
I take this stance not out of any support for the execrably corrupt Ukrainian government (who only feigns friendship with the USA for our money, they are not our friends) or any hatred of Russia, but because we are STILL sending money to that bottomless piece of crap area on that side of the world, and the sooner it stops, the sooner we can stop finding excuses to send MY tax payments over there.
And I do have sympathy for both Ukrainian and Russian men being fed into the meat grinder, as I do believe Trump does.
If they (India, China, and Iran) won’t cut off the funding for the war on both sides, Trump can make it harder for all of them to contribute to funding it (with their energy expenditures paid to Russia or Iran) and I am good with that.

I also have sympathy for the people on both sides of the Russia Ukraine war.
A generation lost, and for no good reason.
And for certain-I don’t hate Russian or Ukrainian citizens any more than I hate Chinese citizens which means I don’t hate any of them.
I have no doubt meeting with them on a person-to-person basis, I would largely find the interaction both enjoyable and entertaining.
It does bother me that these people are bring scooped up on both sides by Zelensky and by Putin and thrown at each other.
It is nauseating.
Do not trust any russian or chinese you come in contact with.
The main land chinese for the most part are and have been indoctrinated so much that they lie, steel and graft at the drop of a hat. They will steel for their government, they will graft for their government, they will lie for their government and that may be just a side hack to their own steeling, lying and personal graft. They cheat in business, the cheat in school, they cheat each other.
It' been stamped on their genes. It is a law that every chinese any where are under the direct control of the chinese government "ccp'. Oddly the russians are pretty much the same, years of communist rule and their intellectual rape of their own citizens has take it's tole. Like the chinese 'ccp' the russian 'kgb' has done the same thing and corrupted their people so much that if they are not steel try aren't trying.
So keep mouthing the fellow traveler guide books useful fool sayings if yo wish but I would warn you to keep your hand on your wallet, wife and kids when either a russian or chinese is around.
I deal with people on an individual basis, so I base my impressions on a personal interaction whenever that is possible. If it is not possible, I resort to a group impression.
