Another year, another season of failed hurricane predictions from the NOAA
American Thinker ^ | August 5, 2025 | Jack Hellner

NOAA, the “experts,” predicted an “above-normal” hurricane season this year. Of course they predict that every year, and the public has been told for decades that humans and our use of natural resources is the cause of increased activity.

After Hurricane Katrina, the public was told that hurricanes would be more numerous and active than ever. Instead hurricane activity was extremely calm for ten years after Katrina. It was a record low for hurricanes.

Why didn’t Al Gore predict the ten year drought in major hurricanes?

In a humorous statement, the “experts” said a ten-year drought in hurricanes occurs once every 270 years:

It has been a decade since the last major hurricane, Category 3 or higher, has made landfall in the United States. This is the longest period of time for the United States to avoid a major hurricane since reliable records began in 1850. According to a NASA study, a 10-year gap comes along only every 270 years.

How the heck would anyone know that since records had only been kept since 1850?

And this year, as of today, August 5th, no hurricanes have formed in the Atlantic despite the dire predictions. Only four named storms, those with over 35 MPH have occurred. So, we get articles explaining why this has happened by the same “experts” that predicted the active season. The experts say that strong wind shear is “disrupting” the storms they predicted, then also say that wind shear is diminishing. Then they note that if storms still don’t form when the wind shear dies down, moisture and stability would be the cause of the reduced activity. Who knew that stability might reduce the chance of hurricane storms?

What a striking command of the obvious.

Here are some things that haven’t caused severe storms, or an active season this year,...

I hope the do get it wrong. August, September and October are the worst. They are not wrong yet. Stand by. It’s just the beginning of hell.

Hey, maybe 'globull warming' moderates hurricane season! Ain't that a kick in the head!

Hey! It’s the annual “they screwed it up again” article while we’re still in the first quarter of the football game!

Even if there’s only one small one they’ll get it right-right?

Uh ... written a month and a half early? September can be a rough month when the season starts late.

My daughter’s honey moon in the Bahamas was cancelled because of a hurricane. They’ll celebrate their 37th at the end of August.

What a pathetically ignorant article.

Titled “ ...another season of failed hurricane predictions from the NOAA” - the season is not even over.

Yet the goofy story used a title implying that the season is over.

Hey, I could be a climate scientist too! Now let’s see - Trump ends funding for USAID and the hurricanes don’t form. Coincidence? I think not.

Way too early yet.

-
I’m no the sky is falling chicken little but if memory serves most of the storms came late in the season last year.

-

However, if you watch the weather channel you’ll find out according to them we’re all doomed.

Yea, even a Cat 0.5 tropical storm is proof of 'globull warming'. 😀

Yep, Hurricanes dissipate the temperature of the water, no Hurricanes in August just means the water will be even warmer in September.

Predicting the weather is a lot like sports analysts Predicting who’s gonna win the game......if you’re right you’re a genius.....if you’re wrong nobody holds you accountable.

-

Either one is a great gig if you can get it.

Maybe, the global warming has something to do with that!

Hurricanes are powered by the difference between tropical hot air masses and cooler masses in moderate zones.
The global warming (and cooling) always happened predominantly in moderate and especially polar zones, the tropics have never been affected by it too much.
The ultimate example is planet Venus, where temperature at poles is just few degrees cooler than that on equator.

Since the temperature gradient is getting less and less on the Earth, hurricanes are loosing power!

The “global warming” lobby scares us by assigning it all kind of terrible consequences.
In reality, Co2 and global warming are good for you!
Why not enjoy warmer weather, less hurricanes, better plant growth?!

Too early to start celebrating.

Mid-August to mid-October is the peak USA hurricane time period.

October is the peak USA hurricane month.

The spring-summer forecast for Seattle weather called for exceptional heat and drought.

They got drought right - just 0.01 inches of rain in July.

Average rain in July - our driest month - is 0.60 inches.

However, the temperatures have been quite pleasant.

Maybe 10 days in the high 80s to the low 90s.

Official Seattle temps are measured at Sea-Tac Airport.

Sea-Tac is usually 1 degree to 4 degrees warmer than downtown Seattle.
