India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits. They don’t care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine. Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA. Shocking, but maybe to India, Ukraine isn’t all that important. To them, it’s like asking Sri Lanka to get really upset about the Mexican border or there Kuril Islands.

Maybe we should make the leaders of those countries send their kids here as hostages, like monarchs used to do. Its the same morality of forcing India into executing US foreign policy goals by blackmail and coercion.
DC is utterly incapable of simple diplomacy. All they understand is bribery, blackmail, coercion and cajoling. And we are teaching the world to despise us and look for ways to make BRICS work eventually.
And of course Russia isn't doing any of that. Because all their soliders are heading into battlefield voluntarily and happily and laying down their lives for their führer.
US buys rare minerals from Russia. EU buys natural gas from Russia. Stop buying from Russia first. India had 1.4 billion people to take care of. Why is a war in Europe any concern of India? Just until few weeks ago, we didn’t care either. Any now suddenly we care? Why?
Prior to the conflict, Russian oil accounted for less than 0.2% of India’s imports, but by 2025, it represented 35–40% of the country’s crude intake, making Russia the largest supplier.
Was this the goal of sanctions? To give India, the third largest energy importer access to an unlimited supply of cheap energy? To my understanding, they are receiving a discount of 5$ per barrel from the spot.
Sorry, but economic leverage is a primary tool in the diplomatic toolkit. So is a strong military. We use it on a personal and business level throughout the globe. Because one does not agree with the specific purpose for which it is being used does not make it any less effective. That’s my point.
