Trump Finally Reveals His Thoughts on the Sydney Sweeney Controversy As Only He Can
Red State ^ | 08/03/2025 | Rusty Weiss

President Donald Trump was asked to weigh in on the Sydney Sweeney "great jeans" American Eagle ad controversy. He delivered a reply that demonstrated humor and exposed it for the silliness it deserves.

It'd be challenging to imagine readers are unaware of what happened here, but a quick recap, if you will: Sweeney, who is a bombshell by most measures, dared to star in a commercial wearing form-fitting pants, a loosely buttoned shirt, and looking good while talking about her "great jeans."

Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle campaign is receiving criticism for a “jeans/genes” pun that some say echoes eugenics and white supremacy rhetoric.

Right-wing voices are celebrating the ad as a pushback against “wokeness.”

As a result, the left went apoplectic, suggesting it was a coded message of "white supremacy" and a thinly-veiled attempt at “eugenics propaganda."

Because that's what the left does. They're weird. They can't stand the thought of beautiful women. And they're relentlessly insufferable people.

Trump, fielding questions from reporters before flying back to Washington, D.C., Sunday evening, was informed that Sweeney has been revealed to be a "registered Republican." He was asked for his thoughts.

“She’s a registered Republican?" he quipped. "Oh, now I love her ad!”

DIVE DEEPER: American Eagle Does the Unthinkable in Response to Sydney Sweeney Ad Campaign Freak-Out

JD Vance Bros Out on 'Ruthless' Podcast; His Take on Sydney Sweeney Proves Why He's the 2028 Frontrunner

"You'd be surprised at how many people are Republicans," Trump added. "That's one I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that."

"If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic!"

Florida voter records show that Sweeney registered as a Republican in Monroe County in June 2024. But think about it, the leftist outrage had already kicked into high gear well before that fact was revealed.

The hatred was already there. Why would they hate Sweeney? Well, she's everything they despise. Beautiful, and clearly knows it. But also a regular down-to-earth gal who restores her own vintage cars.

How can you not love this woman?
Sydney Sweeney actually restored this car herself.

Badass

Beautiful and down to Earth? That doesn't compute with liberals. Had Lizzo done the same ad, there would have been zero controversy, and she would have been celebrated as brave and stunning. Instead, Sweeney gets dragged through the mud.

Vice President JD Vance also had a clever response to the one-sided Sweeney controversy.

"My political advice to the Democrats is to continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive [they are] a Nazi -- that appears to be their actual strategy," Vance said in an appearance on the "Ruthless" Variety Progrum

"It actually reveals something interesting about the Dems, though, which is that you have a normal, all-American, beautiful girl doing a normal jeans ad to sell jeans to kids in America [and] they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing."

🚨 LMAO! JD Vance just reacted to leftists melting down over Sydney Sweeney

“My political advice to Democrats is continue to tell everyone who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a NAZl” 🤣

“You guys, did you learn NOTHING from the 2024 election?! I actually thought one of… pic.twitter.com/qp3zLxU9lG— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) August 1, 2025

Perhaps the best response to the utter nonsense came from American Eagle themselves, who essentially told those outraged they can pretty much pound sand.

“‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans,” the company said in a statement. “Her jeans. Her story.”

“We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”

Eugenics was started by Cali progressives in 1890-1910...they identified and sterilized “undesirables”.

Don’t care for American Eagle. Wish Sydney the best though, and that the ‘registered Republican’ tag doesn’t hinder her acting momentum in any way because she’s on a roll with legit dramatic parts that prove she’s more than just a pretty face.

What I DO find APPALLING is the appropriation of “Eugenics” on the part of the woke left. Are you freakin kidding me? You mean you suddenly have a problem with the FOUNDING Ideology of PLANNED PARENTHOOD and ‘genetic inadequacy’ being pretty much the premise of most abortions and globalist sterilization campaigns in countries worldwide esp. the 3rd world?!?!

You beat me to it.

Don't forget the Buck vs Bell SCOTUS case, which allowed government sterilization of certain people. Oliver Wendell Holmes gave his famous quip, "Three generations of imbeciles are enough"!

Age sneaks up in strange ways...

Last Saturday I was in the non-theme park section of Orlando, and the closest I could park to our restaurant was in front of the American Eagle store. Got out of the car, to be surrounded by posters of this blonde model in varying poses, wearing jeans. For about ten seconds, all I could think was that it seemed to me I had seen her somewhere before. (At least I didn’t need an autopen to sign the check.)

I believe the post refers to a more current political movement, but then again you knew that right?

struggle: Eugenics was started by Cali progressives in 1890-1910...

Carry_Okie: Uh, no. Eugenics – meaning ‘good breeding’ – was coined in 1883 by Sir Francis Galton to describe ‘the science which deals with all influences which improve the inborn qualities of a race’.

I strongly suspect that "struggle" was referring not to the scientific concept, but rather to the political implementation - which is something decidedly different.

Thats a fact. Remember what Rush always said.

I was thinking the same thing. “Politics is show biz for the ugly.” And “Feminism was created to give ugly women a chance.”

It was revealed that Sweeney came from a MAGA family over a year ago. At that time I knew she would become a MAGA super star. The lGBLT will try to demonize anyone who normalizes MAGA.

I strongly suspect that "struggle" was referring not to the scientific concept, but rather to the political implementation - which is something decidedly different.

That is a distinction, but it gets fuzzy there. There were strong debates in Parliament about the poor having too many kids, agricultural sustainability, food spoilage and rats among the industrial poor. I don't doubt there were related ordinances. With the nascence of the argument being Darwin, Malthus, and Galton, to have cited California as where "eugenics was started" without reference to its British origins I thought errant.

Refrigeration and truck transportation for food distribution are what solved those problems, vastly reducing agricultural food waste, thus disposing of the bigger public health problems cited by eugenicists.

Sweeney has a resemblance to the late Shelly Duvall.
