The Two-State Solution Died on October 7
American Thinker ^ | 31 Jul, 2025 | Devin Sper

The October 7 atrocities convinced Israelis that any territory given over to the Palestinians would become a launchpad for terror.

During a recent meeting at the White House, a reporter asked President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu “Do you think there can be a two-state solution that creates an independent Palestinian state?” The question surprised me, since from Israel’s point of view the two-state solution is a dead letter.

There was a time when many, perhaps even a majority, of Israelis believed a two-state solution with the Palestinians was possible. This was the position of every Israeli government for the past 30 years, including Netanyahu’s previous administration. Support in Israel for a two-state solution began dissipating when Arafat launched the first intifada just three months after signing the Oslo Peace Accords. In the decades of relentless Palestinian terror that followed a Palestinian state seemed less and less like a good idea to Israelis and more like national suicide.

The Collapse of Israeli Trust

Yet, even after decades of terrorism, wars, and failed peace talks, a sizable segment of Israeli society still held out hope that separation from the Palestinians could at least bring security and normalcy. That hope was based on the premise that most Palestinians sought a state beside Israel, not instead of it. But that optimistic vision ended on October 7, 2023. Hamas’ brutal assault into southern Israel, killing over 1,200 civilians and taking hundreds hostage, not only triggered a war; it shattered the foundational assumptions underlying the two-state solution. The events of that day buried the two-state solution under the rubble of Israelis’ kibbutzim, their burned-out homes, and their murdered friends and family.

Gaza Proved the Failure of Land-for-Peace

October 7th also marked the final chapter in Israel’s Gaza disengagement experiment. In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza,

In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza, removing 10,000 Jewish residents along with all military presence.

What did they think would happen?

“The Two-State Solution Died on October 7”

It died LONG BEFORE that - it died 20 years ago when the Palestinians voted-in Hamas, a group that supported the Extermination of Jews far more than the Nazis did when they were voted-in. The Palestinians chose ‘the struggle’, and they chose wrong.

I watched the documentary on Netflix about the Oct. 7th attack. I think it was called ‘NOVA’ after the name of the music festival. I wasn’t prepared for the graphic images, but I should have known it would be shocking. Israel has no reason to believe there will ever be peace with those savages. Let ‘em suffer.

How can there be a two state solution when your enemy has vowed to eradicate you?

hamas perpetrated that horrific attack on a holy day in a time of peace. And it was supposed to be part of a larger operation involving hezbollah, the houthies, and a few others. The idea was to sneak attack from all sides at once and obliterate Israel but for some reason, hamas decided it didn’t want to wait and jumped the gun.

You simply cannot take a rabid animal into your house as your pet.

Even other muslim countries refuse to take them. Egypt has closed its border to Gaza. That speaks VOLUMES about those living in Gaza.

Create a two state solution. Move the Palis to Syria. That will help Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. Put the new Country in NE Syria.

Canada. France and UK to recognise Palestinian state
147 of UN’s 193 member states - formally recognise Palestinian state.

BBC News, Toronto

Watch: Mark Carney announces Canada’s plans to recognise a Palestinian state-—Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada plans to recognise a Palestinian state in September, becoming the third G7 nation to make such an announcement in recent days. Carney said the move depended on democratic reforms, including the Palestinian Authority holding elections next year without Hamas.

Israel’s foreign ministry rejected Canada’s announcement, calling it “a reward for Hamas”, while US President Donald Trump said it would make a possible trade deal between the US and Canada “very hard”.

However, most countries - 147 of the UN’s 193 member states - formally recognise a Palestinian state.

Carney said Canada would formally recognise the state of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly. He cited the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, and the 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel by Hamas as reasons behind Canada’s dramatic shift in foreign policy. His remarks came a day after the UK announced it would recognise a Palestinian state in September - unless Israel agreed to a ceasefire and other conditions - and a week after France unveiled a similar plan. “The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable and it is rapidly deteriorating,” Carney told reporters on Wednesday.

He said a recognition of Palestinian statehood would hinge on commitments by the Palestinian Authority to fundamentally reform its governance and to demilitarise the territory.

Canada had long been committed to a two-state solution as part of a negotiated peace process, Carney said, but he added “this approach is no longer tenable”. “The prospect of a Palestinian state is being eroded before our eyes,” he said.Carney told the news conference he had spoken with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas earlier on Wednesday about the announcement.

Watch: BBC presses UK foreign secretary on timing of recognising Palestinian state The Palestinian Authority controls parts of the West Bank through the Fatah party, led by Abbas, while Hamas runs Gaza. Neither territory has held an election since 2006. Carney’s announcement was criticised by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It said in a post on X that Canada’s plan “harms the efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and a framework for the release of the hostages”.

Canada’s Conservatives also took issue with Carney’s announcement. “Recognising a Palestinian state in the aftermath of the October 7 terrorist atrocities sends the wrong message to the world,” the opposition party said in a statement. The prime minister has been under pressure to address Palestinian statehood since the UK and France - close allies of Canada - came out with their own statements on the issue in recent days.

The US, a close ally of Israel, has not followed suit. On Thursday, Trump posted on his Truth Social network: “Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them.” Canada is one of the largest US trading partners, and the White House is in talks with a number of countries before Friday, when a range of US tariffs are announced.

Nearly 200 former Canadian ambassadors and diplomats signed a letter on Tuesday calling on Carney to recognise a Palestinian state. Canada’s principles, the letter said, “are being abandoned daily with the massive displacement, indiscriminate bombardment and starvation of Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the violent attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank”.Asked whether he was influenced by the UK and France’s announcements, or whether he had consulted US President Donald Trump, Carney responded that Canada made its own foreign policy decisions.

If France and the UK do formally recognise Palestinian statehood, the US - a strong ally of Israel - will be the only permanent member of the UN Security Council not to do so.Access to news and social media is extremely limited in Gaza, but some Palestinians in the territory expressed a mixture of gratitude and cautious hope at the developments.
Imad Abu Shawish, a journalist in Gaza, wrote on his Facebook page: “Another slap to Israel - this time from Canada after France and the UK. Every recognition brings us a step closer to our dream of an independent state.”

The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage. More than 60,000 people have since been killed in Gaza, and 154 people, including 89 children, have died from malnutrition, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.

I’ve seen different video clips and taht attack was horrific.

THAT is what Israel is dealing with and they cannot be allowed to continue to be neighbors.

Additionally, the vast tunnel systems that hamas has built is staggering in scope and technology and ability to transport arms.

Israel is systematically destroying those as well, as they should.

There never was a “two-state” resolution. The “Palestinians” want it ALL, with the Israelis pushed into the sea. No mercy, no compromise, no deal. Upon assuming full control of the Levant, the improvements that have been made, to make the desert bloom and the industrial base hum, would be almost immediately allowed to fall into disorder and ruin, with the only enterprise being to export revolution and unrest.

The “Palestinians” are not fit stewards for the crummy little strips of land they now occupy.

There NEVER has been a two state solution because one involved party is not a civilized entity who can ever be trusted. Any notion of that still held by the naive was surely shaken, at the very least, on October 7th. The lead douchebags of Canada, France, and England are just complete a-holes for even pretending that can still be a possibility. England and France’s futures are for all intents and purposes written so they might as well roll out the welcome mat to the inhabitants of the area. I’m sorry for the good people of Europe who will have to suffer...only God knows when it’s going to get truly ugly for them, but the writing is on the wall sooner or later.

"...would be almost immediately allowed to fall into disorder and ruin totally destroyed..."

Based on what they did to the large greenhouse operation the Israelis left for them in Gaza, there would not be a single stone standing on a stone.

The Two State Solution is going to be the path.

Let me explain myself. It’s a promise from the twisted western nations, that have imported to many middle eastern people, that they are unable to support the survival of Jewish state. England and Canada have stated they support a two state solution, with no promise that Palestinians or Arab nations will recognize Israel.

The Two-State Solution will be financed propaganda wise by a legion of bad actors, and will be ‘sold’ to the Western Public. Yes, it will happen and it is not dead. When the world serves Israel this treachery, it should prepare for it’s success.

What I mean is that it’s INEVITABLE based upon history, that the Palestinians will once again attack Jews and the Jewish State. They have been doing it for over 500 years, and it’s not going to stop. When they attack next time, Israel should fight a war for survival, which should be completely different than before. That survival must mean complete and total control of all Palestinian land as a war prize, and understanding of necessary civilian casualties that come as a result of said war. Let everyone in the world, every leader, every Arab, everyone, that if they are attacked by a new ‘Palestinian State’ that only one State and one people will be victorious.

With that basic WORLDWIDE knowledge and emphasis, I absolutely support a Two State Solution “For as long as the Palestinians can keep themselves from doing terrorism and attacks”. Then I support a single state solution after that. Personally, I don’t think they will make it 5 years.

It was a sad day for sure. I had many friends who went down to Gush Katif just before the evacuation. The Israelis tried a humanitarian way (they thought) of trying to give the Gazans a productive farm. The Gazans destroyed all of the infrastructure within days and it lay fallow..That should have been a good lesson. There can be no two states.

There was a time when many, perhaps even a majority, of Israelis believed a two-state solution with the Palestinians was possible.

That may have been true, but what almost all westerners forget (or don't want to understand) is that the Arabs have never accepted a two-state solution. For them the only aim is a one state islamic state.

See this video with interviews from Ramallah (not Gaza, but the so called West Bank):

A few days ago a Gaza woman was in the news claiming that IDF had shot her house with two bullets. She held them up to show reporters. They were complete cartridges. A bright one she was.

Not only did Israel give land for peace, but it gave the best land. Chocked full of lucrative resorts and hotels by the Mediterranean sea, but they also got thriving businesses.

Every Gazan citizen would be extremely wealthy, if they had simply used the land properly.

But they were stupid and lost their chance and all the stupid Dems, stupid RINOs and the stupid Lamestream Press. The eggs will never wash off their faces.
