In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza, removing 10,000 Jewish residents along with all military presence. What did they think would happen?

It was a sad day for sure. I had many friends who went down to Gush Katif just before the evacuation. The Israelis tried a humanitarian way (they thought) of trying to give the Gazans a productive farm. The Gazans destroyed all of the infrastructure within days and it lay fallow..That should have been a good lesson. There can be no two states.
