Now, she’s back in hot water with the campaign for American Eagle that has been called out as a “conservative dog whistle” and with headlines on Newsweek like “Sydney Sweeney Fronts Ad Campaign for Jeans – Sparks Debate About Eugenics.” The campaign, which features elaborate worldplay, is jeans, “genes”, and Sweeney’s blonde-haired, blue-eyed good looks has… not gone down well. Now celebrities like Doja Cat have weighed in on TikTok. And, a former American Eagle employee has broken down exactly what went wrong with the “good jeans” ad.

To me that sounds like a diverse style message. She was saying, basically, enough with all this talk about race (genes), we all wear the same color of blue jeans.
