An investigation is underway after a death on the Carnival Dream cruise ship based out of Galveston, Texas, according to reports.
At around 4:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, July 23, passengers woke up to the sounds of sirens alerting them to an incident on board the ship as it was traveling to Costa Maya, Belize, KHOU and the Houston Chronicle reported.
One passenger reported hearing an announcement saying that medical assistance was needed on the Serenity Deck, according to the outlets

Hope it was not the buffet.
I didn’t even have the salmon mousse.
Anybody that knows the recent history of what’s been going on, on Carnival won’t be surprised if it’s “ratchet” related.
The Carnival Cruise Line folks have had a lot of bad press lately. It seems large numbers of black vacationers have been acting up at sea if the viral videos of their frequent melées are to be believed. Carnival management tried to stem the bad behavior by prohibiting all rap music. That backfired badly. Who knows . . . maybe someone was disrespected on the Serenity Deck.
Or maybe it was something else, given the coverage.
Also, it’s routine for the FBI to investigate deaths on cruise ships.
In general, they have the same size ship as others, but cram an extra 1000 passengers on it... and thus can charge less per person... which means a LOT more kids... and no more crew... so that means less-optimal service... and now add in the "ghetto" element... and the history of accidents and issues... and that's just not my idea of a relaxing week in paradise.
“Carnival management tried to stem the bad behavior by prohibiting all rap music. That backfired badly”
First I heard that it backfired. Can you elaborate?
Also, Carnival enacted at least a half a dozen new rules in an attempt to control what can only be described as ghetto behavior....a damned shame all that had to be done just because a certain ethnicity acts like a bunch of animals.
We went on 2 Carnivals back before the ghetto crowd showed up but it was still a little too much of a party boat for us.....moved over to Princess and never looked back.
If it costs more $$ to filter out the riff raff then so be it.
I wouldn’t set foot on a Carnival Cruise after all the “black partying” and fighting I’ve seen on the videos. No Thanks.
That said, these cruises attract a lot of elderly - and very elderly - customers.
We take the smaller cruise lines - Viking and American River Cruises - and they are always chock-full of elderly in wheelchairs, walkers and with oxygen tanks - they need a golf cart to get to the bus which is yards away. Some I was sure wouldn’t make it to the end of the cruise - and sure enough, last cruise, one elderly cruiser had to be taken off by ambulance, luckily we were docked at the time. Never heard the outcome...
Not as much on carnival.

The black vacationers have been complaining loudly over social media that Carnival is racist for not permitting “black peepo music.” I have no idea if the ban is still in place, or if black customers are flouting the ban by playing rap on their boomboxes. It seems to be a no-win situation for Carnival.
They should issue a set of rules, starting with:
Anyone, irrespective of color, starting a fight, will be placed in locked quarters and handed over to police at the next port, or sooner, if possible.
“It seems to be a no-win situation for Carnival.”
Oh I don’t know about that.
I would wager that getting rid of the bad elements would motivate a better class of passengers to purchase a Carnival cruise....as long as there us a certain guarantee it won’t be a floating ghetto.
Carnivals big mistake was dropping the price of their cruises to the point it allowed people that probably shouldn’t be on a cruise ship to do so......and providing an option to finance a trip didn’t help either.
I guess it’s true.....no good deed goes unpunished.
Cruise Lines do feature theme cruises. Carnival might consider doing a red blue gangbanger cruise limited to filling the ship with Crips and Bloods with semi automatics. I can’t think of a better way of the garbage taking itself out to sea to empty itself and coming back with an empty garbage barge.
So much for serinity on deck.
Carnival’s latest ship. Jet Blue of the Seas.
It’s not all of ‘em...but it’s always them
