The man who unleashed chaos inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on Monday afternoon has been identified as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old licensed private investigator from Las Vegas who once dreamed of a life in football.
Authorities say Tamura arrived in Manhattan by car on Monday, parked around the corner and walked into 345 Park Avenue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan with a concealed weapon permit issued by the Las Vegas Sheriff's Department.
Tamura headed straight into the building, strolling across a wide city plaza with his rifle in plain sight.
What followed was a terrifying and targeted shooting spree that killed five. Police believe was the shooting was premeditated and likely suicidal.
'It appears that he knew it would be his last stand,' said CNN chief law enforcement analyst John Miller, a former NYPD deputy commissioner.
'He fully intended to shoot his way through the lobby and make his way to that target - whatever that might have been.'
The building, home to major corporate tenants including the NFL's headquarters, became the scene of a frantic lockdown as gunshots echoed through the corridors and heavily armed police teams swarmed the floors.
While the league's offices are housed in the tower, sources confirmed Tamura was not on the NFL floor.
Nevertheless, investigators are looking into into whether he was targeting the NFL offices based at that building.

If he was JV, it’s doubtful he had sights on the NFL unless it was some sort of fantasy. Some of the TV talking heads are speculating that maybe the NFL offices in the building were his target. Maybe but not likely.

We live in times where if you take away a kids $1,500 iPhone, you take away his purpose in life and are abusing them.
Based on the “very” limited information we have, it appears this shooter was motivated by his dream of being an NFL player bursting. No excuse, regardless of what the reason was, even if it was some perceived injustice.
So he’s angry because Hawaii no longer has the Pro Bowl?
Oh no, he’s white.
Alternative reporters could do a lot of follow-up investigating …parents, friends, family, work history, etc., etc. The story usually disappears as the next criminal takes over from the last criminal. Lives are destroyed. Life goes on. Condolences to the innocent victim’s families and friends.
Why did he wait till he was 27 years old? Did he even attend college?
Ongoing press conference indicates that he has a history of mental illness.
That Las Vegas permit is no good in NYC.
What I find interesting is that the MSM mentions he has a concealed hand gun license.
They seldom mention all the crimes stopped by people with concealed hand gun license’s.
They don’t mention the race of the shooter.
If it were a white guy and especially a veteran, do you really think it would not have been mentioned?

Name suggests possible Japanese descent; maybe mixed.
(Hawaii is ‘all mixed up and turned around’.)
It appears the genes of one side won out over the other.
Maybe mental illness is what ‘won out’.

Watching FOX, it’s kind of hilarious to hear all of the ‘experts’ stating their theories, when they really know nothing at all yet about this guy or his motive.

reminds me of the few stories over time where the newly wed white bride and groom’s families all gather at the hospital for the birth of the first grandchild and it comes out black... the initial look on the Elders faces I bet were priceless!!
