President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing concerns of famine in Gaza on Monday, breaking from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Sunday comments in which he said, “There is no starvation in Gaza.”
Trump was asked about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza while meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry, Scotland. “It’s going to be working where the United States will be helping with the food. You know, we have a lot of access to food; we got a lot of food ourselves, and we’re going to bring it over there. We’re also going to make sure that they don’t have barriers stopping people,” Trump said when asked about the issue. He added:
You know, you’ve seen the areas where they actually have food, and the people are screaming for the food in there. They’re 35, 40 yards away, and they won’t let them because they have lines that are set up, and whether they’re set up by Hamas or whoever, but they’re very strict lines, and we have to get rid of those lines.
But we’re going to be getting some good, strong food. We can save a lot of people. I mean, some of those kids are — that’s real starvation stuff. I see it, and you can’t fake that.
So we’re gonna be even more involved. We did some airlifts before, some airdrops, and the people are running for it. And the Prime Minister is going to help us. They’re very effective with that. You’ve done that before and for many. They’ve done that for 100 years very well, so it’s not very hard to do, actually.
Widespread media reports have documented the dire conditions in Gaza in recent days as social media has also been awash with a typical amount of misinformation – including images taken from other war zones or out of context. Israel announced a pause in fighting on Sunday to allow for food distribution and to assist UN agencies in aid delivery. Aid distribution sites have become flashpoints of violence in recent weeks as shootings have killed scores of Palestinians, with both sides blaming the other for the mass killings.
It may be true after the Butler attempt on his life and murder of Corey Comperatore, he may honestly be working for peace more and more. He underestimated Putin vs. Zelensky and is trying to save Israel but reduce the deaths in the Middle East.
If the food gets to the starving people in Gaza it’s good for Israel and the US. If it is stolen or blocked by the terrorists then the outcome to them will be bad.
“ Trump said it’s caused by Hamas.”
Thanks.
Don’t tell Trump what he can or can’t do panican.
Find a place out of missile range of Israel like the South Pacific and ship them there.
Trump needs less Netanyahu.
Trump and Netanyahu are good leaders.
Hamas leaders are evil and starving people deliberately.
The West doesn’t understand the depth of cruelty and depravity of Gazans. Projection of western values onto them has proven time and again to be suicidal. When I saw the first plane crash into the World Trade Center the first thought to enter mind was the word “RESOLVE”.
Actually you can... The ‘starving’ child being held by a rather healthy looking mother was a child riddled with health problems. He was not healthy to begin with. They splashed that photo around the world claiming starvation and it was complete balderdash.
The squatters have lots and lots of food to eat.
“It’s going to be working where the United States will be helping with the food.”
So are they not getting food shipments or is Hamas stealing their relief supplies and selling them on the black market?
Every once in a while, Trump seems a little naive about some things. OTOH, I wouldn’t doubt that the food sent to the people of Gaza is not reaching its intended recipients, but I don’t think it’s Israel who’s keeping it from them. It’s jihad, you know; starving children are good PR for Hamas; they couldn’t care less about those children.
