Lately my Facebook page has been flooded with these ads announcing that seniors can get concealed carry permits on-line, with no safety course, range time/competency, etc. They want to charge $95, presumably to process the application and mail you the permit. The particular ad I looked at made me suspicious, so I closed the page and searched for "KY (my state) concealed carry permit." There was n mention of any change in the laws benefiting seniors. As far as I can tell, you still have to present a certificate of completion for an approved firearms course, undergo the usual background checks, pay the sheriff and the county. This seems like an obvious scam. Has anyone tried this and succeeded?
1. get training from a local certified instructor, in person
2. let them help you through the certification process
Go online only if they recommend it and give you the URL.
Lately my Facebook page ………
All I needed to read to know that yes. It’s a scam.
If you live in Georgia you just pack it.
The only thing I do on Facebook is shop the marketplace for local merchandise. It’s great for that. My state is rich in antiques :D
All of those things on Facebook are scams.
Clear your history.
Scams
If you have to ask it’s a scam.
To obtain a concealed carry license in Kentucky, you must be at least 21 years old, a resident of Kentucky, and complete a state-approved firearms training course. Additionally, you need to submit an application along with the required fees to your local sheriff’s office, and pass a background check.
“ Can’t be a scam if it’s on the internets.”
Lincoln wrote that.
It’s gotta be a scam, but I’ll bet some will fall for it.
I don’t do F-book, I wouldn’t go near it with a 10 ft. Pole.
Another reason I love Arizona. No need for a permit to buy a gun or to open or conceal-carry.
Or a 8 foot Italian.
Quite honestly, I was fairly shocked when concealed carry was approved in Illinois. They do, however, charge us thru the nose for it.
Facebook is definitely a scam...
Offering that gun stuff makes it a double scam...
You would be better off giving your money to one of those Nigerian princes...
It took me a few seconds, lol!
I’d have to look into it, but the last that I saw Illinois would not honor my Kentucky carry permit
I just checked:
California
Hawaii
Illinois
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
Do not honor any other state’s carry permit.
Last time the wife and I drove to Missouri from Kentucky we had to spend a little time crossing through Illinois. Before we hit the state line we put our guns and holsters in the trunk of the car and after we crossed over into Missouri we stopped and got them back out. I wasn’t going to take the chance that 20 minutes in Illinois wouldn’t go south on me with those idiots
Ditto for kentucky. But my wife and I and our daughter maintain our Kentucky permits in case we travel outside the state. Kentucky’s permits are pretty widely recognized.
Here is a weird little tidbit. When we were on a trip out west we went into New Mexico. New Mexico does not recognize our Kentucky permits. But, even as out of state residents we could open carry there. But we could not conceal carry. And it was legal to conceal weapons in our automobile. It is considered our property/residence
