Buckingham Nicks, the only studio album by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as a duo, will be reissued for the first time in September.
Released in 1973, the 10-track album was recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles and was produced by Keith Olsen. Famously, in late 1974, Mick Fleetwood visited Sound City while scouting studios to record Fleetwood Mac’s next album and Olsen played him ‘Frozen Love’. This resulted in an offer from Mick for Buckingham to join Fleetwood Mac, which of course happened but Lindsey insisted that Stevie Nicks come too.
Buckingham Nicks will be available on CD – for the first time – and on ‘baby blue’ coloured vinyl, an Amazon exclusive yellow coloured vinyl and a Rhino exclusive High Fidelity pressing. The audio has been sourced from the original analog master tapes for its CD and vinyl release (remastered by Chris Bellman).
Buckingham Nicks will be released on 12 September via Rhino.

“She’s got a lot of miles on that body. She was like the village bicycle. Everyone had a Ride.”
To be fair, one can say the same about Mick Jagger. He is the definition of “used goods”.
He’s also the definition of “fugly”.
I know the term “genius” is overused, but Tuomas Holopainen is a true genius. Nightwish is one of my favorite bands.
Sound City was a legendary studio. Apparently drums sounded amazing when recorded there (engineers could never figure out exactly why), which is probably why Mick Fleetwood was there in the first place and discovered Buckingham (and Nicks).
There's a really good documentary about Sound City. It is worth checking out.
The studio no longer exists, but Dave Grohl got the mixing board from the studio (they had to cut out part of the wall to remove it).
But they rarely do.
Bingo. No range, no sweetness to her voice
Made her mark on one song, and do you want to hear it again? No.
People killed everywhere on Earth in wars since Cain & Abel: 1 billion.
People killed by women & Stevie Nicks by abortion since 1980: 1.3 billion.
Baaaaaaahhhhh! (Bleating in curmudgeon)
Does it still work?
I haven’t used it in awhile unfortunately. I should give it a go this weekend.
Stevie Nicks slept around with 2 members of the band. One of whom was married at the time. Quite the record.
Absolute hard fact.
I remember it received heavy airplay on the then ‘new’ FM alternative rock stations. Only us ‘cool people’ listened to FM back then....😏
I was on a goat farm about the time Buckingham and Nicks recorded their album. I went to Cutler’s (a book and record store) and listed to the album. It sounded to me as if they had recorded the goats on the farm.
I note that the people who talk about her love life don’t have anything to say about Buckingham. Was he some paragon of chastity and virtue?
They need a new marketing exec. Should have released this in May coinciding with a FM reunion tour.
I remember seeing this album in the 99 cent bargain bin by the hundreds back in the day.
This came out before they were in Fleetwood Mac.
Everytime I listen to “Lanternlight” , I reach for the box of Kleenex, especially whilst watching the video.
“The Poet And The Pendulum” and “Dead Boy’s Poem” have been my favorite Nightwish tunes, but “Lanternlight” has shot to the top. It truly is a work of art. The song and the video.
IMHO, Floor Jansen is the best female vocalist on the planet today. Like Tuomas, she is also an empath and her empathy really puts emotion into her voice. Floor and Tuomas are a match made in music Heaven.
Floor’s last note on “The Weave” brought me out of my chair, lol. The way in which she belted “LIGHT!!” was as beautiful as it was powerful. I would love to hear Floor cover “Child In Time”. She would slay it.
I agree, her lower register is sublime. I would like to hear it more often.
I’m fifty-four and the “Lanternlight” lyrics hit very close to home. As I get older, those songs really hit hard.
BTW, when I cut myself, I bleed “Ghost Love Score”. The 2013 Wacken version, of course:)
Thanks for the post. It’s good to discover another Nightwish fan on FR.
