Their?...That bugs me to no end. But I think TPTB have actually sanctioned it. Using "his" is sexist, and "his or her" is just too cumbersome.

In the olden days AKA the days of common sense either he/his or they/their was used to mean any individual...
I can remember using those terms at school during the 1950s/60s
But we also used policeman postman milkman chairman etc
