The music business can be very vicious.
Yessir...
Iconic photo!!
Maybe he deserves it, maybe not, but Ozzy will NEVER be forgotten.
Underneath it all, it seems he was not really a bad guy, tho' Sharon is a different story...
"Hand of Doom" and "Fairies Wear Boots" definitely helped steer me away from substance abuse, even tho' I knew those guys were being a bit hypocritical about it. :-)
It seems that with these guys who abused their own bodies (and minds), right around 75 y/o is pretty much their age limit if they survived overdoses, plane crashes, and so on. Most didn't produce much new music of note / quality, past their 50's either, with a few exceptions. "You're living too fast" as the lyric in "Hand of Doom" goes...
Still, 76 isn't that bad a result, and Ozzy was able to mend some fences (Lee Kerslake, Bob Daisley, etc.) in late life. He seemed happy to still be around, right up to the end.
I would be pleased to call Ozzy "Sir".
RIP, Sir! :-)
I have most of his albums but this isn’t some shocker, nor am I any more upset about it. I wasn’t moved at all when Kurt Cobain died either. Gary Rossington’s death bothered me a little, maybe because they were all right down the road.
Cheech and Chong, right?
War Pigs final performance:

Poor audio, but, still pretty epic!
Awesome guy, funny, talented RIP heavy metal God!!!
“Well one time I played Black Sabbath at 78 speed, and then I saw God!”
Cheech & Chong!
He was a legend. Unbelievable. Crap… I hope the neighbors like Black Sabbath.m because that’s what they are hearing tonight.
201 Poplar!
RIP Ozzy. I loved so much of your music, and your wacky personality. I very much hope the Lord forgives, if you asked. I’ll say a prayer for ya!
You were a fan.
Were you going through changes? (I’m just joking around, don’t worry).
Somehow I would suspect his wife. He seemed guileless. Her not so much.
I thought he’d go down Keith Richards path and be around after a nuclear blast. Just Ozzy, Keith and cockroaches.
Beyond his prior drug and alcohol abuse, he had a few substantial injuries/accidents including when he rolled an ATV (3-wheeler?) followed by Parkinsons.
He put on awesome concerts. You can’t say he didn’t live life to his fullest.
Sharon’s father was a big man in the UK music business who could be a very scary fellow (they were estranged for years), but at 76, natural death is more likely.
I remember Ozzy Osbourne becoming famous (or rather infamous) at the Alamo also....
The sad thing was he was intoxicated and had no idea where he was. Countless vagrants and tourists have done the exact same thing.
Seriously, had I been the judge I would have required him to take a private tour to learn what the Alamo represents and make a substantial donation.
During the early 90s, I worked with a Missile Launch Squadron Commander whose favorite song was “War Pigs.”
My comment was in reply to a post that suggested Ozzy routinely ripped off other artists. I wasn’t insinuating that his wife offed him.
