Maxwell was convicted of trafficking four girls who were abused by Epstein personally, so they were the required "victims". She was neither accused nor convicted of trafficking girls to anyone else.

I have no insight on the Acosta claim that he was ordered to stand down by superiors.

But - Acosta had a huge trial problem that he could not solve.

Every one of Epstein's young victims was paid $400 (adjusted for inflation).

And, every young victim told Epstein she was age 18 or older.

Epstein would have claimed each case was nothing more than simple prostitution, with young women who lied about their age.

With that testimony in the record, the young women would have had difficulty winning significant money from Epstein in a civil law suit.
