Comedian Jon Stewart tore into CBS on Monday for canceling “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, which the network described as a “financial” decision.
Stewart, during the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” defended his friend and raised the possibility that the move could be an effort to appease President Trump, who has railed against Colbert at times on social media.
“Watching Stephen exceed all expectations in the role and become the number one late-night show on television has been an undeniable great pleasure for me as a viewer and as his friend, and now Stephen has been canceled for purely financial reasons,” he said. “And by the way, not just Stephen’s show. CBS has canceled the entirety of The Late Show franchise. Gone.”
“Now I acknowledge, losing money. Late-night TV is a struggling financial model. We’re all basically operating a Blockbuster kiosk inside of a Tower Records,” the comedian continued. “But when your industry is faced with changes, you don’t just call it a day. My God — when CDs stopped selling, they didn’t just go, ‘Oh well, music, it’s been a good run.’”

These celebs sound like Democrats ... no matter how unsuccessful they are, you have no right to call them to be accountable for their failures.
Jeez, all these liberal comedians are lining up in support of Colbert.
Maybe I’m missing something, but if Colbert is really that popular, and the demand for bombastic, political humor against Trump, is that great, then Colbert will find a TV home somewhere else.
I’m still trying to get my arms around how his show loses $40 million a year . It’s supposedly the highest rated of those late night Liberal political shows.
It’s funny to see so much commentary about how somehow this is a threat to civil liberties. Or a threat to constitutional rights of freedom of speech,, that CBS cancels his show.
So what’s the deal? Are TV networks supposed to get the approval of Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart etc, when they make programming decisions?
Writing on the wall.
All of the late-night losers are starting to throw tantrums because they are worried about which one of them will be next. Time to fill the late-night TV schedule with old black and white movies. That vomit from the late-night political clowns has lost its shine for the drunk and high college educated wannabes.
Show business is good at demonstrating the difference between being clever and being intelligent.
He should be thankful. Cancellation now, a bullet later. That’s how Communism evolves.

Just show Carson reruns, they’ll get higher ratings.
The group who despises wealthy people, are angry when their favorite shows are not subsidized by those same wealthy people.
