NEW YORK, NY — Along with NPR and PBS, a state-run propaganda program hosted by Stephen Colbert announced it would be shutting down due to a loss of funding.
The Late Show, filmed at the historic Ed Sullivan Theater, transitioned from late-night comedy to officially sanctioned state-run propaganda in 2015 with the hiring of Colbert. Though known for his comedic work at the time, Colbert was reportedly eager to promote government-generated information initiatives in exchange for money.
"I thought maybe our ratings were down, but CBS informs me that's not why they fired me," Colbert said, addressing the cancellation on his program. "So, it must be Trump's fault. Boooo Trump! Right, audience?"
According to Colbert, he was thankful for his time peddling lies about the COVID-19 vaccine being safe and effective and pushing DEI initiatives in the workplace. His only regret was failing to prevent a Trump presidency (twice).
CBS announced that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the long-running government propaganda and disinformation operation, would officially end in May 2026 after completing a previously planned propaganda push linking Trump's settlement with Paramount with Jeffrey Epstein's global sex trafficking ring.

Amazing that of late, many propaganda arms of the national socialist movement are experiencing LACK OF FUNDS? Perhaps it should be revised to read “closing due to stoppage of American Taxpayer Dollars”. I guess Americans are finally realizing that funding your enemies doesn’t work well in the end.
It was ok at one point. Back when we had three or four TV channels in a large market like Dallas/FortWorth. They made some really good local history and documentary type shows. Macneil Lehrer was good in that era. NPR played classical or long form blues music. All good stuff.
But the soft talking stereotypical NPR libtards gained firm control and it turned into 100% anti-republican government programming and has been that was for decades now.
Long overdue to turn off their money. If they want to make the crap they have for the last 35 years... find sponsors besides me..
Add revenue based on viewership was down.
They lost 40 million in add revenue. Thats why they fired you.
I expect they were hearing from their stockholders, as well.
Sad, as the legacy audience, and time slot, they threw away was a goldmine.
This is great, but it’s mostly spot on, and not a parody.
I guess the I SAID $$$ stopped flowing....
Dems love lighting piles of $$$ on fire, but not their own money.
Late night “comedy” is a name given to distract from the reality: that it’s really political propaganda cleverly disguised as sophisticated “humor.”
You are correct, that’s what it is now, decades ago it did start out as comedy.
