It finally happened. “Rush Hour” — yes, the 1998 Jackie Chan–Chris Tucker buddy cop comedy — has been deemed too problematic for modern audiences.
USA Network recently aired the film with a trigger warning slapped on before the opening credits. The message read:
We all love our buddy comedies … but this movie was created in a different time. FYI certain depictions, language and humor may seem outdated and at times offensive
We’ve entered an age where satire, and even just broad comedy from a pre-social media era are being flagged like hazardous material. “Rush Hour,” with its broad humor, culture clashing, and PG-13 jokes, is hardly “Birth of a Nation. And yet, it’s been put in the same moral penalty box as films with genuinely outdated or questionable content.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this. In the past few years, we’ve watched the cultural reevaluation brigade go after “Goodfellas,” “Gone With the Wind,” and “Blazing Saddles” — each introduced on cable or streaming with some form of a content advisory message warning of racial or gender-based “insensitivities.”

I refuse to purchase, view, or participate in anything that comes with such a disclaimer. Such disclaimers are an insult to the public. There will always be thin-skinned and/or ignorant klutzes who take offense.
These folks have no idea of history and are a waste of your time. Don’t give ‘em the time of day. Harrrummpph!!!
Based on this The Big Bang Theory should be banned from tv.
It’s not one of Jackie Chan’s better films, and the sequels are really bad.
A time when there was less Democrat created racial strife.
I’ve never even heard of Rush Hour. LOL!
Man, get over it. To be honest, the disclaimer, if any, is basically an attempt, because they don’t have the power altogether to censure your viewing.
And...maybe I have too many commas.
There is such a thing as turning the channel, not going to the movie and the new movies are the ones who are lecturing to you anyway.
Yep
The people who made this movie created it for entertainment and wanted a good story in it, it wasn’t a platfor to preach liberal values and virute signal from.
“has been deemed too problematic for modern audiences.”
The problem is that woke modern audiences are too damned dumb to appreciate classic movies.
Thank God they put in that disclaimer, one single person might have been grievously offended had they viewed the movie and not known of the...offensive...late nineties humor.
There are trigger warnings on original Sesame Street episodes because there was (HORRORS) SMOKING in it!
They should slap everything else with a trigger warning:
“This movie was just made. That’s why it sux so bad.”
I’m surprised they haven’t issued trigger warnings for the Lethal Weapon movies so the poor wusses who watch them, don’t have nightmares.
If Rush Hour gets a trigger warning, imagine what Blazing Saddles will get.
Stars a huge Chicom boot licker and a guy who flew around the world on Epstein’s jet with Clinton and Kevin Spacey.
I would almost guarantee this "warning" was written by someone who wasn't alive in 1998.
Blazing Saddles. I was so traumatized by the line “The sheriff is near” the ushers had to get me to a safe room where I could pet a puppy until the vapors went away.
🤣
These folks don’t know the meaning of “humor” and “comedy”.
Worse yet, they foist their nonsense on people.
