As Elon Musk moves to create a third party to upend America’s political system, he’s spoken with one-time Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang about the nascent effort.
Yang, the 2020 White House contender and founder of the independent Forward Party, said in an interview that he has been “in touch” with Musk and his team.
“I’m excited for anyone who wants to move on from the duopoly,” Yang said. “And I’m happy to help give someone a sense of what the path looks like.”
He did not respond to follow-up questions about when they spoke and what else they discussed. Yang amped up his denunciation of America’s two-party system after his failed run for New York City mayor in 2021 as a Democrat. The Forward Party has been recognized in a handful of states and has a goal of achieving ballot access in all 50 states this year.
The conversation between the entrepreneurs and two-party system skeptics provides a rare glimpse into Musk’s behind-the-scenes machinations as he attempts to create the “America Party” — an arduous and expensive task that will test the political clout of the world’s richest man. Musk revealed on Saturday that he would form the party amid his dramatic fallout with President Donald Trump.

The only issue they may have in common would be the EVs.
This is starting to get scary. Yang was somewhat popular with his UBI push.
“””lol what? Teaming up with Yang? “””
Yang is part of the WHERE ARE THEY NOW group.
The American party: let’s import more people from Asia
A key question can be, who will they siphon off more votes from, Republicans or Democrats?
Musk supposedly wants to run candidates in swing congressional districts.
More of a threat to Democrats who have gone off the cliff politically.
This needs to be taken seriously. Whether or not you think it’s a good idea or not, if anyone can pull this off, it’s Elon Musk.
This will almost guarantee whatever they do will pull more from the center left, than the center right, which was always the most likely outcome of this....
Socialism is becoming more popular with kids.
Maybe his third party will actually draw more away from the democrats than Republicans.
Rats are not in play. They will not leave their party. This is Christmas for them.
Five billion Asians can easily send a few hundred million legal immigrants to MuskYang America. What could go wrong?
yep, third parties hurt the GOP.
Ross Perot II.
Look for CNN to start booking interviews and promoting 24-7
Agreed!
This needs to be taken very seriously.
My “kids” thought UBI was a good idea ... until they got old enough to work and pay taxes and pay for other people’s UBI. LOL
Yang appears to be a quite competent and accomplished person. His politics seem very far leftist, though. So, he’d certainly pull a lot of votes away from the D ticket if, as appears likely, the DNC’s Ruling Elite nominates any of the krapo kook kommie politicians on their visible list now.
It is a shame that a fellow with Yang’s intelligence would be out there advocating for Bernie Sanders and socialism.
A more American, centrist political orientation would have enabled him to do some genuine good, I think, with his participating in the political system.
“ yep, third parties hurt the GOP.”
Not with Musk’s name all over this. The left will stay home.
And when they increase the recipients every year and the payout by 7-10% every year - well, that just won't work. Basically it's a disincentive to be productive, it would quickly crash the country.
