Michelle Obama is giving fans a glimpse at "The Look," her new book coming out in the fall. In the book, reflects about how her appearance during her time in the White House was "constantly being dissected" and aims to "reclaim more of that story" for herself.
The former first lady, whose memoir "Becoming" was a bestseller in 2018, announced on Instagram on June 5 that her new book will be released on November 4. "The Look" is her first book since her 2022 bestseller, "The Light We Carry."
"During our family’s time in the White House, the way I looked was constantly being dissected — what I wore, how my hair was styled," she wrote. "For a while now, I’ve been wanting to reclaim more of that story, to share it in my own way. I’m thankful to be at a stage in life where I feel comfortable expressing myself freely — wearing what I love and doing what feels true to me. And I’m excited to share some of what I’ve learned along the way."
Obama, 61, wrote that "The Look" is "a reflection on my lifelong journey with fashion, hair, and beauty."
"Inside, you’ll find some of the outfits that have meant the most to me, but more importantly, the moments that I lived through in them — big and small, personal and political, historic and ordinary — that were as memorable as the clothes themselves," she continued.
The former first lady is also sharing the stories of her stylist, makeup artist and hairstylists who helped shape her appearance during her time in the White House.
"The Look is about more than fashion," she wrote. "It’s about confidence. It’s about identity. It’s about the power of authenticity. My hope is that this book sparks conversation and reflection about the ways we see ourselves — and the way our society defines beauty."

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Translation: "I'm ungainly, graceless, and not pretty, therefore 'beauty' is not what everyone thinks it is, it's something else."
Look, lady, there’s a reason you look like a guy and are married to a gay man.
The Book Of Me
Meghan Markle soon objected to Mooch using that title...
Every First Lady is constantly dissected. This chick needs to get over it.
She has me confused with someone who gives even a tiny shit about “her” or her’ homosexual “husband!”
She has me confused with someone who gives even a tiny shit about “her” or her’ homosexual “husband!”
He’s going to spill the beans.
Getting desperate for attention, is she? A whole book about her “look”? That’s usually covered in an interview in about 10 minutes.
Stupid and narcissistic is not a good combination.
THe only skill she learned from 10 years in the spotlight was how to read from a teleprompter.
Truly an egomaniac of vast proportions.
BUT WHAT IS IT ABOUT HER THAT MAKES THIS REDEFINITION SUCH AN ISSUE?
It's all about me, me, me and more me.
Her ego needs an entire time zone to contain it.
Other than the one picture of her leaving AF1 in sloppy shorts and a tank top with a loose blouse, I honestly don’t remember her “look” being dissected negatively anywhere other than here on FR.
The media slobbered over her, she graced many, many magazine covers and her “bold choices” (layered, flouncy skirts of mismatched prints with bobbles & rickrack, huge, gaudy floral prints, sundresses with “boob belts”) were lauded.
Pissy, thin-skinned, entitled, chip on the shoulder attitude is never an appealing “Look”.
If you say so... I guess... whatever...
The only style she had was blah, and they fawned all over her, as if she was a fashion icon, then completely ignored and denigrated the beautiful and stylish Melania, who finally gave them the middle finger by wearing her famous “I don’t care” jacket.
I recall her first fashion statement was the outfit she wore to a visit to the Grand Canyon in year one.
Oy, Michelle. She likes those belts! My mother liked the belts too. Me, I don’t like the belts very much.
LOL, wonder what my mom would think of Fashion Icon Michelle Obama!
I do gotta say this in all fairness, the belts look better on Mrs. O. than they did on my mom. Sorry, mom, but it’s true. Not that they look so great on her! (I hate them!)
