HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An employee at a 7-Eleven in Hollywood is brain dead after she was allegedly attacked by a manager, according to the victim's family.
Last Tuesday around 2:10 p.m., Los Angeles police responded to a battery call at the convenience store at Melrose Avenue and N. Arden Boulevard.
Police said there was a fight between two employees. One of the employees, Jessica McLaughlin, was taken to a hospital.
A GoFundMe campaign set up by McLaughlin's family says she was attacked by one of her managers.
Jessica's brother says the manager sat on top of her and didn't let her breathe.
"I don't know what, how we're gonna get past, it's gonna be a hard road, it's gonna be a struggle to get, to get past this one. I can't even explain. I'm just lost, I feel," said Sean McLaughlin.
McLaughlin's family says she's brain dead, and they are raising money for her funeral.
Police say the suspect is not in custody.
"Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time," 7-Eleven said in a statement. "The suspect has been terminated, and we continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation."

Thank God I escaped Hollywood and returned to Ohio....
Wait for the Daily Mail photos.
Did you marry a banker who wanted to be a farmer too?
After my freshman year at UofCincy in ‘68, I moved to Hollywood to transfer to UCLA and their $100/qtr tuition for in-state residents.
My girlfriend, a petite blue-eye blonde who lived next door, came with me - it was quite a cultural change for a couple of Ohio kids.
It was an amazing geographical area - from beaches to mountains to canyons.
But after 4 years, the evil was becoming apparent - Manson, homos parading on Sunset & Hollywood Blvds and so much more.
Returning to SW Ohio felt like heaven...
There is no question of that. I’ve been to the Hollywood, as a tourist, and know what they show on TV is a small section of all of Hollywood. It is quite the seedy place.
I was just struck by how your story matched half of opening theme song to Green Acres.
My 16-year-old granddaughter was applying for a summer job recently. I was warning my daughter to be very careful in considering jobs at fast food places or small stores. There have been far too many altercations at these stores where it is no longer safe to go there let alone work there. Be it customers or employees, some of these people act worse than animals.
Try Tijuana
I bet there was a love interest involved somewhere.
“Suspect not in custody, no name, no pic, no description.”
Odd that. LE has all that information.

The more white and the more blond she is, the more trouble she will with non-whites of both sexes. Particularly if they are the majority of the employees.
A few years ago my tall nephew figured play basket with whoever is there. A black kid, 20 or so, knocked out his two front teeth with his elbow. No apologies, no nothing. The black kid just disappeared. It was probably an intentional foul. Blacks play a more physical game of basketball, with more contact and more fouling.
White parents have to give their kids "THE TALK".
After deciding to move and head west, I had plans to....load up my car and move to Beverly...Hills that is...Swimmin’ pools, movie stars.
One time when I was a young woman in my early 20’s I applied for a job at a local Taco Bell. The manager looked at me and asked me if I was related to “so and so” and I said my mom’s name. He lit up. So I went home and told both my grandmothers (maternal and paternal) about that. They both freaked out as did my maternal aunts. Who ever this guy was not only knew my (late) mother but was horrible to her in High school. They forbade me from taking that job and told my Dad “she will NOT work there!!” and that was final. My paternal grandmother said “I refuse to let you work there he will molest you!”
I can tell you this the day when I went to apply for the job? When he looked at me that day his face was white like he had seen a ghost. I’ve been told I look a lot like my mom’s side of the family.
You came from a good family. Tight. Open communication.
Good thing your Dad chose to listen to your Grandma’s advice.
In the late 50s, my teenage brother wanted to work at a small repair shop in the strip mall — locks, keys, radios, small appliances, etc. My brother wanted to go alone to the job interview, but my dad insisted he was going to go with him. Dad deduced after a few minutes that this guy was a loner freak, and wouldn’t allow my bro to work there. Although nothing was “explained” about it to us younger kids, that was my first intuition about weirdo men. We had such a good dad!
Victim white. Any guess as to the skin color of the female manager and her girth? Derek Chauvin is doing hard time for using an approved restraint method taught by the police department. Did 7-Eleven train its managers to sit on their employee’s chest and deprive them of oxygen? And the perp isn’t in custody.

Info on same page as video:
"A Hollywood 7-Eleven employee has died after she was allegedly attacked by her store manager during a shift last week, according to her family. It was around 2:15 p.m. on June 24, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, when officers from the Wilshire Division responded to a call about a felony battery at the convenience store on the 5700 block of Melrose Avenue. LAPD said an altercation happened between a female victim and a female suspect, where they got into a verbal argument that turned physical. Officers arrived to find a woman in her 20s unconscious on the floor with critical injuries. She was rushed to a hospital, but police say the suspect had fled the scene before authorities arrived. No arrests have been announced as of June 30. Family members identified the victim as Jessica McLaughlin. Her brother, Sean McLaughlin, told KTLA that Jessica was nearing the end of her shift when the assistant manager began antagonizing her and threw a bottle at her. The situation then escalated, he said."
I think the accused is also latina, larger person with smug look.
