I hear ya!

I, too, can balance a checkbook.

Also, I understand that I need to spend less money than I bring in.

And I avoid borrowing except in emergencies (home loan, non-frivolous car loan, education loan for something that leads to employable skills). And I pay off those loans ASAP. I would NEVER EVER borrow to go on vacation or buy luxury items or anything similar.

Now if Congress could just adopt the principles that we, the (financially sane) people operate under .......

Somehow, I don’t think it takes a financial genius to operate like this.

I suspect that it’s the “financial geniuses” that got us into this disastrous economic swamp and it will take a legit financial genius (President Trump and his chosen advisors) to get us out of it.
