Ignore the link but it gets to my point. First let me say, I voted for Trump 3 times, had a Trump flag hanging out front and support 99% of what he does. My concern are the uncertainty with tariffs. I have asked customers on a daily basis for the past 2 months how business is and across SS the board the uncertainty of the tariffs is KILLING business. We sell to these companies and we are dead. Most manufacturers are dead and businesses overall are dead. I can’t believe this has gone on for so long. I think if he simply raised tariffs 5% across the board and got these tax cuts through we would be booming. But it’s been 6 months and getting eerily quiet. Go ahead flame away, but if this goes on much longer our economy will be heading in a downward spiral.

Uncertainty is like kryptonite to business.

The overall current economic situation is due to drag left over from the historic inflationary COVID period spending and the recent interest rate increases to combat the increase in money supply. Couple this with the price increases of all goods and services due to COVID era supply chain issues and the overall attitude that higher inflation rates are now the norm (until they werent) has lead to a breaking point in net consumer spending. This has caused demand to drop across major sectors of the economy, automobiles and hospitality come immediately to mind. I think every section is now feeling the drag. The tarrifs, which have been short term, cause price variability due to supply speculation, but have a short term effect. Then pain you feel is due to the inflationary effects of massive government spending, not tariffs.

US manufacturing is experiencing growth, just not the level we need. And assuming all the manufacturers that have made promises to invest in the US follow through, it will take years for that investment to show up as production. But if Trump loses in court, you can expect those promised investments to evaporate.

You can thank the judges who are tying up Trump’s authority to enact these tariffs. Sure, they are still in place, but that authority is yet to be decided, and SCOTUS recently refused to fast track the cases, meaning it will take months, maybe into 2026 to play out. Since the courts intervened, not a single country has reached a trade deal (UK agreement was before the court ruling). They are waiting and hoping the courts give them a win and Trump is forced to fold.

I’ve been in the manufacturing sector for 35 years and became an owner of a company 20 years ago.
The sector especially in durable goods is going to be somewhat flat for the foreseeable future regardless of current tariff policy.

The globe in economies that matter...North America, Europe, and Asia are full of old people with assets and material wealth.
This demographic issue will put downward pressure on spending and also will create a secondary used market in material goods that have already been manufactured.

We’ll do ok with the onshoring trend that’ll take place over the next decade, but looking at new revenue streams outside of manufacturing is one of my primary goals.

'The markets do not seem to agree with your assessment on manufacturing.'

The markets made a decision on liberation day and kept on making a decision until Trump paused most tariffs. We don't have any signed trade deals and the tariffs have not been finalized or figured out.

Domestic manufacturing. I have talked to over a few hundred customers over the past several months and asked them the same question “how is business” and then go from there. Every single one them said the same they “ the uncertainty has caused everything to come to a halt”.
I have been doing this for almost 39 years. Last year was bad…this is even worse.

I guess we don’t care. Tariffs now and forever. A domestic manufacturer not in favor of the tariff is a complete idiot.

Would you move to a low tax state or high tax state? Would you do business with a high tax state or low tax state?
