I was referring to the punchline in the famous original series Twilight Zone episode entitled “Rip Van Winkle Caper”

Technically, Gold has been made by bombarding mercury or bismuth with high energy particles. Apparently by doing the nuclear reaction they change the number of protons (nuclear transmutation) and viola...gold. Way too costly and tiny amounts are made.

The point of the article was the relative cost of production compared to value. Read the whole article and then apply that thinking to current value.
