TAMPA, Fla. — A Wesley Chapel woman was found guilty of stealing almost $2 million in unemployment benefits, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Friday.

DOJ said 58-year-old Maria Morales created over 100 debit cards using other people's information to receive insurance benefits provided during the pandemic.

Morales then took the cards to different ATMs in Florida and withdrew thousands of dollars using the identities of over 100 people across the United States.

Officials said this took place in less than one year.

Morales’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19, and she faces a maximum of ten years in federal prison.

I wonder where she went wrong?

Were the cards all going to the same address? Did she buy a Lambo and raise red flags?

If she’d been smart she might have gotten away with it.

The system is overwhelmed. Cloward-Piven. We aren’t people anymore, we are numbers. Nobody goes to the unemployment anymore, all done online. It is massive. Unemployment is a State issue and they are just as oblivious to crime as any other department.
It’s not a crime if nobody finds it.

For $200,000 a year, I bet you could find people that would let themselves be incarcerated for that.

Prison should not be profitable.

Rita Crundwell’s story has been used for many years as an example of fraud investigation in FED GOV auditor training classes.

And looky here, Biden pardoned her!

Incredible.
