Listening to the Dr Demento show on Sunday nights on WYSP in Philadelphia was a great introduction to being underground. Or subversive.
Dr. Demento is a national treasure. He introduced me to The Congress of Wonders, Fred Blassie’s Pencil Neck Geek, They’re Coming to Take Me Away, and countless other tunes. Dr Demento didn’t make me popular but he made better than everyone who peaked in High School. God bless him.

He kept “Junk Food Junkie” alive.
He also was a platform for “Big Daddy”, who performsa ‘80s songs ‘50s style.

I didn’t know he was still around.

Haven’t heard him since the days of 94.7 KMET (“The Might Met”) in So. Cal in the ‘70s. Always entertaining.

Agreed, but I was a Harvey, in the morning fan on WIOQ. FOXX & Leonard, on WMMR as well. Harvey took on too much with Nickelodean projects for television, trying to do both. He's a cabinet maker today and remodels kitchens.
My Talk Radio favorite was Irv Homer.

I thought he had been retired since the first Reagan Administration. Back when there was a rich variety of Spoken Radio shows available on terrestrial stations.
Back when Radio Shack and Blockbusters were riding high in the business world.

Late night AM radio back in the 70’s was like a glimpse of the world.
After the sun went down I could pick up WLS Chicago.
..Ya, I grew up in the sticks.

Maybe Hank Johnson was auditioning his parody version of “Hey Joe” for the Dr. Demento show?

This thread makes me nostalgic. And a bit melancholy.
I listened to Dr. Demento. I remember all the songs being mentioned.
I don’t think Wild Man Fisher and his My Name is Larry has been mentioned yet.
