Of course they’re unsafe to eat.

Jolly Rancher began and was for decades headquartered in Golden, Colorado, a Denver suburb along the foothills. They also manufactured them there. I live in Denver, and remember how the smell was so strong that if you drove by there you could almost taste the Jolly Ranchers. As industrial odors go, it was very pleasant.

They’re gone now, with manufacturing moved to Mexico and Canada. I wonder if that’s why they’re now finding contaminants in them, or if the Brits are just overreacting to something that is common.

The lawsuits are gonna be thick and furious with all these “potentislly unsafe ingredien” findings coming out. gonna start seeing lots of lawyer commercials saying “have you or a loved one suffered from giglioblastoma after eating jolly rancher candies in the last 70 hears? If so, then Give us a call, at 444 444 4444”

Sounds like the lubricating oil for the production machinery is getting into the candy. Probably in trace amounts, and probably harmless. Mineral oil is indigestible so it just passes through your digestive tract. You can buy it over the counter for use as, among other things, a laxative.

Mineral oil is also what you use to treat cutting boards, wooden spoons, and butcher blocks.

This modern-day hysteria over minute amounts of additives is nuts. The scaremongering is caused by social media influencers wanting clicks.

Well, once you sell off Quality Street to Nestle you might as well eat exported overseas American industrial garbage.

Mineral oil hydrocarbons enter food “through environmental contamination, use of lubricants for machinery, release agents, processing aids, food or feed additives and migration from food contact materials,”

How much contamination can be involved here? Sounds like you could pick this up walking around anywhere. I have an air compressor the air end of which holds two gallons of mineral oil. I’m running that thing all day.

I’ve read there are 8 yo’s now showing up with fatty liver disease. Our food system overall is a prescription for early death from metabolic syndrome.

People who go on ketogenic diets for the first time go through sugar withdrawal and the symptoms mirror cocaine withdrawal. Commonly referred to as “KETO flu.”

To live long and prosper, ditch everything man made from your diet. If God didn’t make it and you didn’t bake it, don’t eat it.

I used to fork at Jolly Rancher back in 1999, Not a bad gig, but horrible scheduling.

I wouldn’t know when I would go back to work until 5PM the day I was AT work.

Don’t think I lasted a month. Quit there to drive a forklift warehousing beer bottles for a contractor for Coors. Hired on at Coors November 2000. This is my 25th year there.
