Donald Trump has approved plans to attack Iran, but has not made a final decision on whether to strike the country, the BBC's US partner CBS reports.
The US president held off on initiating strikes in case Iran agreed to abandon its nuclear programme, a senior intelligence source told CBS. Trump is reportedly considering a US strike on Fordo, an underground uranium enrichment facility in Iran.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday rejected Trump's demand for unconditional surrender, as the US president said his patience had run out.
On Wednesday, Trump said, "I may do it, I may not do it", when asked a question about US involvement in Iran.
Khamenei rebuked Trump in Wednesday's recorded speech, saying that "any US military intervention" would be costly and added: "The Iranian nation will not surrender."
Trump brushed off the rejection, saying "good luck", but again declined to disclose his plans. "I mean, nobody knows what I'm going to do," he said.

High stakes. Those mullahs are wily as all hell I hope it a works out.
The only weapons systems being discussed are the B-2 and the GBU-57. Neither are exported and using a dozen or so MOPS is an insignificant expenditure. All of these stocks bumped up on Friday and have been returning to prewar values since it appears it will end quickly.
But if we don't take the nukes and other things from Iran, who else is going to do it?
I feel that when President Trump started talks with Iran, BeBe got upset and started bombing Iran...many BeBe can wipe out Iran, maybe he can't, who knows for sure,
But then there is Russia, I have read that Russia and Iran get along and President Trump is trying to stop the mess with Ukraine and Russia, and if we go into Iran, what is that going to do to Russia and U.S.?
There are so many things to think about, but most importantly, Our Boys and girls going into another war again.
I'm 80 years old, my grandfather fought in WW!; my Uncle fought in WW 2; my brother in law was on a naval ship in the Korean war and my 2 nephews were in the Iraq War, I'm really tired of war outside our Country.
Then there is the mess in California that is being paid for by trouble makers to upset our Country and that dumb Gov and Mayor of California have no idea of what is going on, and we get degraded because Our President sends in the Guard...really???
So here I am wondering, praying and still thinking we should do this, shut down Iran, but then if we get another Biden air head, why was it worth it?
Plans are made and approved for all sorts of things.
That doesn’t mean all or even most of those plans are carried out or brought to fruition.
We should be thanking Heaven we once again have a stable uncorrupted genius POTUS who loves America and is notoriously in the saddle 24/7, and who has miraculously denied the office to galactically stupid Kamala and scheming sack-of-potatoes Hillary, and triumphantly displaced sleepy Dark Brandon AutoPen.
Trump’s Roadrunner mind is relentlessly torturing the mullahs to within an inch of their Wile E. Coyote super-geniusness.
Biden, whom they must miss terribly, never had the intelligence or mojo to give them a run for their money.
Trump will order it anyway because a judge who can’t read the Constitution can be ignored
Bottle rockets occasionally kit something.
So what happens if we successfully bomb their underground centrifuges or stockpile of uranium? Is it same as exploding a dirty bomb? Then that area becomes a wasteland?
Let me know when a credible source reports this.
This is all head fake. Israel will hit he nuke facility from the ground with commandos.
Presidents have been proactive since Jefferson went after the Barbary pirates.
Ever hear of the War Powers Act post Vietnam? The president can act, but must report to Congress. After 60 days, Congress can vote yea or nay.
Yes you probably know more than me but I think that only applies when the threat is imminent and immediate
Did you argue this when Trump dropped bombs on Yemen for weeks earlier this year? Did you argue this when Trump spent weeks bombing Syria in his first term to take out ISIS? When Trump blew up Soleimani? When he even dropped bombs on Somalia? When has the president ever had to get permission from Congress to drop a few bombs, especially when Trump repeated on the campaign trail over and over and over, “Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb,” and he gave them ample time to come to an agreement to denuclearize?
Did Biden get permission from Congress to bomb Yemen? Did Obama for all the countries he bombed? I’m not sure why everyone keeps insisting there has to be special rules for Trump. The best thing possible if we go in is for us to get the bombings over with in a couple of days and help end the war quickly; not have a month’s worth of debate in Congress and attempt to turn something brief and goal-oriented into a “war.”
“According to media...” THERE, right there, that was the tell.
All a lie.
Have you ever seen such msm double speak?
Of course you have, it's either this or that, or rain or shine or hot or cold.
Plain BS.
