Donald Trump vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s supreme leader, according to American officials.
Details of the plan to kill Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emerged on Sunday night after Mr Trump warned Iran not to target American interests and car bombs rocked Tehran, the Iranian capital.
The White House has made clear it is intent on limiting Israel’s actions to degrading Iran’s nuclear weapons programme and does not want a wider regional war.
World leaders were due to meet in Calgary, Canada, on Monday at a G7 summit where conflict in the Middle East is expected to dominate the agenda.
Sources said Israel had briefed the Trump administration on its plan to kill Iran’s supreme leader but Mr Trump refused to approve the operation.
“Have the Iranians killed an American yet? No. Until they do we’re not even talking about going after the political leadership,” said a senior US administration official.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, shrugged off questions about the plan during a TV interview.

American officials. Great source 🙄
I know right. The American source was probably the janitor.
Who is this “American official”? I’ve seen multiple articles posted here stating this but no one ever names that persom.
So until someone has the balls to go on record this is all vapor.

Lol... This is on their front page ...
The journalists have put their names on it (there are bylines) so you know, they must have some inkling they dont make stuff up at the Telegraph
Why is it “good for Trump”? The Mullahs are not “leaders” of anything, but a terrorist cult. What is it our business if Israel wants to get rid of him in response to his targeting of their civilians? A hell of a lot of Persians would appreciate it.
“they dont make stuff up at the Telegraph”
Oh please.
L
Stay out of their affairs
The telegraph has editors and standards believe me they dont make this up
The journalists have their sources they just wont go on the record
You must know how it works
Screw the Telegraph. Screw the UK.
If President Trump were to endorse the plan to assassinate the leader of Iran, he would be tacitly admitting that an assassination attempt on himself was a legitimate act of statecraft -- nullifying diplomacy and deal-making. He can't do that, having been the target of an assassination attemp, whether foreign-state sponsored or not.
With that said, Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard should be looking over their shoulders wherever they go.

Could be another mind game, good cop, bad cop tactic.
BBC and CBS have confirmed it from 3 sources
US President Donald Trump rejected a plan by Israel to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, three US officials have told BBC’s US partner CBS News.
Trump reportedly told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that assassinating Khamenei was “not a good idea”, according to one official. The president has not commented publicly on the report.
The conversation is said to have happened since Israel launched its attack on Iran on Friday.
During an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu did not directly confirm or deny a report from Reuters that Trump had vetoed a plan to kill the ayatollah.

This is good news, right?
Hahahaha.
We learned from Russiagate that “anonymous source” = “lie”
“Good for Trump”
Good for Trump for selling Israel bunker busters. ….and for helping Israel shoot down Iranian missiles and drones. ….and for backing and helping Israel in innumerable ways. And sooner than later, Trump will give Israel the go-ahead to take out the Ayatollah. And people like you will be triggered.
Good not to make martyrs of the Mullahs. If anyone takes them out, it should be the people of Iran.
You don’t kill a Nazi leader like that. You humiliate them, make them surrender, make them off themselves, or make the people hate them so much they take care of their own business like in Romania.
