A former appointee of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is being sought by police in connection with the fatal shooting of a state lawmaker, according to reports.
Police are searching for Vance Luther Boelter, 57, who was appointed by Walz in 2019 to serve a four year stint on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, sources told The New York Post.
It comes after an assailant is thought to have impersonated a police officer when they entered the Champlin residence of Senator John Hoffman and his wife early Saturday, shooting both and leaving them critically injured.
The shooter then proceeded to the home of former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman, where she and her husband were fatally shot.
Local police, sheriff's deputies, and the FBI have launched an extensive manhunt.
During a Saturday morning press conference, officials said they are investigating the possibility of multiple shooters, however no one is in custody.
Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said the suspect's vehicle contained a 'manifesto' and a list of targets, including both lawmakers, according to The New York Times.
The first shooting occurred just after 2am at Hoffman's home in Champlin, about 20 miles from Minneapolis. Hoffman and his wife were shot multiple times, KSTP reported.

Shooter dude went from managing a 7-Eleven to being CEO of a security firm and of an NGO in Africa
CrAzY!
“””I wonder if he got USAID money?”””
I am also wondering if Vance Boelter was getting money to encourage illegal invaders to apply for Medicaid???
I am beginning to think that Boelter went ‘POSTAL’ because his snout was being removed from the governmental feeding trough.
Good point.
Maybe he can get some of his Chinese friends to join the search?
He was grifting off of government grants AND they were drying up, I still believe he was paid to do this DON’T EVER step off the DEM plantation!!!
i need more info on his manifesto and target list.
He may have been trying to frame republicans and/or went off his rocker due to lack of funds when the grift got cut . we might be able to figure out more when we see that target list.
I’m thinking the shooter is a jealous gay guy.
Did they check in Walz’ garage?
Sadly I don’t know if we’ll be able to trust any list that eventually comes out
If he is getting assistance from Walz he may difficult to find.
In other words, they’re flat-out lying, which they do all the time. Network should be off the air, there’s no actual news there.

G- How did authorities identify the shooter in MN?
ANSWER: Authorities identified Vance Luther Boelter, a 57-year-old man, as the suspect in the June 14, 2025, shootings of Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, Senator John Hoffman, and his wife Yvette through a combination of physical evidence, police encounters, and investigative leads, though the exact process is not fully detailed in public sources due to the ongoing investigation. Below is a concise summary of how Boelter was linked to the crime, based on available web sources and X posts, critically evaluated for reliability.
How Authorities Identified Vance Luther Boelter
Police Encounter at the Scene:
At approximately 3:35 a.m. on June 14, 2025, Brooklyn Park police proactively visited Representative Melissa Hortman’s home after the earlier shooting of Senator John Hoffman in Champlin. They encountered a suspect posing as a police officer, exiting Hortman’s residence with a vehicle equipped with emergency lights in the driveway. The suspect, later identified as Boelter, fired at officers, who returned fire, before he fled out the back of the property. This direct encounter provided police with a physical description: a white male with brown hair, wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants, operating a fake police SUV.
Evidence Recovered from the Suspect’s Vehicle:
Police searched the abandoned vehicle, which resembled a police SUV with emergency lights, and found critical evidence:
A manifesto listing multiple lawmakers and public officials, including abortion providers and pro-abortion rights advocates, as potential targets. This document helped establish the politically motivated nature of the attack and likely contained identifying information or clues pointing to Boelter.
“No Kings” flyers, referencing planned anti-Trump protests on June 14, 2025, which may have linked Boelter to a specific ideological movement or event, aiding in profiling him.
A Father’s Day card addressed to the suspect, found in a bag with ammunition, which could have included Boelter’s name or other identifying details.
The manifesto’s list prompted immediate alerts to protect other named officials, suggesting it was a key piece of evidence in narrowing down the suspect.
Law Enforcement Sources and Media Reports:
By 1:00 p.m. PDT on June 14, 2025, The Associated Press (AP) reported, citing two anonymous sources familiar with the investigation, that authorities were searching for Vance Luther Boelter, aged 57. These sources could not publicly discuss details due to the ongoing investigation, indicating Boelter’s identification came from internal law enforcement leads, possibly from the vehicle evidence or prior knowledge of his background.
Journalists Karol Markowicz and Julio Rosas, citing police sources, first named Boelter on X around 10:00 a.m. PDT, linking him to the shootings and noting his 2019 appointment to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board by Governor Tim Walz. Rosas shared a notarized appointment document signed by Walz, suggesting authorities may have cross-referenced the vehicle’s evidence with state records to identify Boelter.
Boelter’s Background and Potential Leads:
Boelter’s prior appointments to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board (2016 by Governor Mark Dayton, 2019 by Walz, term expired 2023) placed him in state government records, making it easier for authorities to match his identity to evidence like the manifesto or Father’s Day card.
His alleged role as Director of Security Patrols at a Minnesota firm, as claimed in an X post, may have given him access to law enforcement-style vehicles and uniforms, consistent with the suspect’s tactics. If true, this could have been a lead authorities used to confirm his identity, possibly through employment records or security credentials.
A LinkedIn profile cited by National Zero lists Boelter as “CEO – Red Lion Group” in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2021, after being a 7-Eleven General Manager, raising questions about his recent activities. Authorities may have accessed digital records or social media (e.g., his locked Facebook profile) to corroborate his identity, though National Zero notes limited visibility into his political affiliations.
Investigative Context:
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), led by Superintendent Drew Evans, and the FBI are assisting local police, indicating a robust investigation with access to databases, forensic analysis, and intelligence. The rapid identification (within hours) suggests authorities leveraged multiple sources, such as vehicle registration, fingerprints, or witness descriptions from the Champlin and Brooklyn Park scenes.
The discovery of Boelter’s name in state records, combined with physical evidence and his encounter with police, likely allowed authorities to pinpoint him. The lack of an official police statement naming Boelter (as of 11:44 a.m. PDT, June 14, 2025) suggests caution, possibly to avoid compromising the manhunt, but the AP’s sourcing indicates high confidence in his identification.
Critical Evaluation
Reliability: The AP’s report, citing two law enforcement sources, is the most credible, as it aligns with multiple outlets (FOX 9, Hindustan Times, The Washington Post) and is less speculative than X posts. Rosas and Markowicz’s claims on X, while early, are supported by the AP and a notarized document, adding weight, but their police sources are unverified. Outlets like The Liberty Daily and Must Read Alaska frame Boelter as a “radical Democrat” or “communist,” which lacks evidence and reflects bias, as no source confirms his political leanings.
Gaps: Authorities have not publicly detailed how they linked Boelter to the evidence (e.g., fingerprints, vehicle ownership, or manifesto authorship). The Father’s Day card and manifesto’s specifics are vague, and Boelter’s motive remains unclear beyond “political motivation.” His Walz appointment raises questions about vetting, but no prior criminal history or threats are reported.
Establishment Narrative: Mainstream sources emphasize the “politically motivated” angle and “No Kings” flyers, potentially amplifying anti-Trump protest connections without evidence Boelter supported or opposed the movement. RedState notes ambiguity about the flyers, as authorities initially thought he might target “No Kings” rallies, not support them. The rapid naming of Boelter may reflect pressure to inform the public amid a manhunt, but the lack of official confirmation suggests ongoing verification.
Response to Your Question
Authorities identified Vance Luther Boelter as the suspect in the June 14, 2025, Minnesota shootings through evidence found in his abandoned fake police vehicle, including a manifesto listing lawmakers, “No Kings” flyers, and a Father’s Day card, combined with a police encounter at Hortman’s home where he was seen fleeing. Law enforcement likely cross-referenced this with state records of his Workforce Development Board appointments (2016, 2019) and possibly employment or digital records. The Associated Press, citing two sources, confirmed his identity by 1:00 p.m. PDT, supported by journalists’ police sources on X. While the exact process isn’t fully public, the vehicle evidence and Boelter’s documented background were key. Boelter remains at large, and the investigation continues.

That’s the craziest bunch of conspiratorial nonsense I’ve ever read.
Now they released his name but they have no idea who he could be. Most likely a neo-nazi or something like that. It’s odd that everyone else has been able to see the connection with Walz.
I guess Tim Walz was partially right when he said he was friends with school shooters.
Did they look in Walz’s butt?
this unconfirmed sentence leads to a possible trail of a frame job
“A manifesto listing multiple lawmakers and public officials, including abortion providers and pro-abortion rights advocates, as potential targets”
Did the Boelters and the Walzs socialize?
