Nixon was a brilliant politician.
Not particularly “conservative” but far better than Carter.
Watergate was a media coup against a popular, siting president.

That is kind of like the permanent damage that Biden has done to this country.
We had Iranian students in 78-79, many in engineering .
There were some anti Shah protests.
Yes the Shaw was brutal.
But if these students had any idea what was coming I don’t think they ever would have wanted what they now have.
I remember meeting Persians (as they called themselves after the revolution) in the US, bemoaning what had happened to Iran after the Shah fell.
I did my EMT training with one of the Shah’s U.S. body guards right after the Shah died. He seemed like a good dude. I also worked for a woman who took in a high Iranian official’s daughter after the fall of Iran. The mother and father got the kid out and were never heard from again.
The Shah wasn’t perfect, but Carter failed to understand that a democracy or a republican form of government is incompatible with Islam.
Nixon was a very good President. Jimmy Carter was a disaster. I think this was recognized by the American people. When Nixon ran for reelection, he won 49 states. When Carter ran for reelection, he won 6 states.
