FARAGE: The burka is ‘anti-British’
Telegraph ^ | June 11 | Telegraph

Nigel Farage has described the burka as “anti-British” as he called for a “debate” on banning face coverings in the UK.

The Reform UK leader issued his strongest comments yet about the issue on Tuesday as he unveiled the party’s new chairman, Dr David Bull.

It comes after Zia Yusuf, the former chairman, resigned last Thursday after one of Reform’s MPs raised banning the burka in Parliament. Mr Yusuf said it was “dumb” to talk about the issue because outlawing face coverings was not party policy.

However, on Tuesday, Mr Yusuf appeared at a Reform UK press conference and said he would continue working for the party as head of “UK Doge”, an efficiency campaign in Reform-run councils.

Mr Farage was asked whether he supported previous comments by Dr Bull that the burka was an anti-British symbol.

He replied: “This is about priorities. You know, I don’t like to see the burka. I think [Dr Bull]... I think he’s probably right.

“It probably is anti-British in the sense that [...] I don’t know if they’re being forced to cover up.

“That is not a good and positive thing, but is it absolutely front and centre of what we’re going to campaign for? Not given the other major crises we face.”

Mr Farage also compared burkas, which are worn by Muslim women to cover the body and face, to face masks used by far-Left protesters.

Agreed... There is no need to cover ones face, other than for armed robberies and bank heist.

While their at it... Ban facemask of any kind. So sick and tired of seeing people wearing covid face mask more than five years out now. They do not stop covid or flu infections and they are now merely an expression of leftwing lunacy.

If I lived in a country that had CCTV mounted at every corner and nook and cranny... oh, wait... never mind...

The Burka is worn because Islam teaches that all men are racist and cannot control themselves. It is more anti man than anti woman

The burka/hijab is a middle finger to Western Civilization.

I just saw a 9/11 story - a flight attendant said she swore a ‘woman’ on her plane on 9/11 in a burqa was a man - no way to tell at security unless you look at their faces, which, I don’t think you can as muslims have made it a very political and legal issue. The ‘woman’ was very large and had hairy man hands. This was a flight out of DC, I think, that was cancelled and it was thought that that flight was another plane that was going to be taken over and used as a weapon.

My best friend was also a lead flight attendant on a plane on 9/11 out of DCA with 3 muslims scattered throughout the plane and she is 100% certain that her flight was also one of those that were targeted to be taken over.

Several years ago,I went inside a gas station off the interstate in SC to buy a lottery ticket while my husband was pumping gas at one of those huge gas stations - (not Buccee’s 🦫 😊). As I was in line, a woman walked in wearing a FULL burqa and the entire store went silent. Everyone stared at her, no one could speak. It was just horrible. Slavery is over in this country, honey. You are a free woman, not property.

Funny how the females don’t have to wear them until they go through puberty.

It is so the men can ‘shop’ before they are hidden.

I believe that the recent spread of Islamic migrants is an actionable offense against compromised women by compromised men.

The burqa ban is a distraction from this...

UK Government Labels 42% of its Country 'Terrorists'

Still waiting for Farage to condemn THAT.

As for the burqa...

I wouldn’t ban that any more than I’d ban plain dress for Amish.

“I wouldn’t ban that any more than I’d ban plain dress for Amish.”

Burka hides the face; it’s a mask.

Amish plain dress isn’t a disguise.

Huge difference.

Are we talking burqa or abaya?

A lot of folks use those two terms interchangeably.

Any place with a ban on wearing a mask in public has already dealt with the burqa issue.

For a reason that has zero to do with any bias against any religion.

If we’re talking abaya, then my comparison still goes. :-)

Like I said, this is a distraction.

“WE’re” (do you have a turd in your pocketk?) not talking burqa or abaya.

“WE’re” talking about the images for burka on Google — the black hoods with slits for the eyes.

In any case, if they’re in America they need to assimilate with our culture. Enough with their cosplay crap. If UK is OK with it, that’s to UK’s detriment.

I’m happy that you’re happy with them infiltrating our culture. I’m just not.

I hate to break this to you, but there’s this pesky little thing called our Constitution that may have bearing on a burqa ban.

I just searched for a SCOTUS decision that might have settled this hash, but there isn’t one.

Yet.

But our Founders never promised us a legal rose garden.

Meanwhile, something a lot more pressing than a bloody burqa ban...

BBC licence fee warning as new overhaul means cost will depend on price of your house Under the new means-tested proposal, households would not be able to opt out of a TV license.

One summer day when the temps were close to 100, I saw a dude walking around in a grocery store in shorts, flipflops and a ballcap while his wife wore a burka... Poor woman likely smelled like a polecat and I didn’t get close enough to figure out whether she did or not... That’s for sure.

“there’s this pesky little thing called our Constitution that may have bearing on a burqa ban.”

I never said there should be a law!!

(Although I do believe there are laws in some place addressing face coverings.)

Citizens should make it so uncomfortable for them that they’ll choose to assimilate.

You think that TV licensing is more “pressing” than the destruction of Western culture?

If so, then we know you’re not serious, and are auditioning for Babylon Bee.

(And isn’t this in Britain?)

“... more pressing than a bloody burqa ban.”

What about the burqa’s first cousins, honor killings and clitorectomies? You good with those, too?
