Arguably no show on cable news provides a better window into President Donald Trump’s thinking than Fox & Friends. And on Wednesday, one of the hosts revealed the president — though he may not be saying it publicly — is seeing red over Elon Musk trashing his “Big, Beautiful” budget bill.
During a discussion about Musk in the 7 a.m. ET hour on Wednesday, Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade shed some light on Trump’s current feelings about the man he tapped to oversee DOGE.
“I think the Elon Musk thing really caught the president by surprise,” Kilmeade said. “And I hear he is furious!”
Still, Kilmeade’s next comments offered a preview of Trump’s likely response — or non-response, as it were.
“I think he’s so smart to keep his powder dry,” Kilmeade said. “Because it just plays into what critics would have to say, ‘The right can’t get out of their own way.’ Instead, you have a goal: Pass it. Elon Musk is not in the Senate or the House. Don’t worry about it.”
Co-host Lawrence Jones tried to paint a more rosy picture — arguing that Musk is still a Trump ally despite launching a scorched earth attack on the president’s signature legislation.
“I don’t think Elon is anti-MAGA now, or anti-the president now,” Jones said. “He worked so hard, put a lot of stuff on the line to get a lot wasteful stuff cut.”
Co-host Ainsley Earhardt, in response, suggested the fences may not be so easy to mend.
“I was shocked to hear him say that,” she said. “I can understand why the president would not be happy about that.”
That article is chuck full of speculation. Typical for a “reporter”.
The pro wrestling bill. It’s funny to watch 612 wrestlers take turns as good guy-bad guy, and Musk and Trump as ringmaster.
They should avoid these giant omnibus bills anyways . Just vote on aspects separately
An X tweet yesterday, reflecting, frankly, his well-known rather impetuous nature, and an apparent loss of nerve that Trump would never suffer from.
THAT is regular order!!!
Missing for nearly twenty-five years!!
It is big.
Yep….many would love to put a wedge between them.
Tabloid news imho.
Trump should be furious... but not at Elon...
Looking right at you Congress.
lol, yeah… I wonder what he was thinking when he got into this.
A lot of things are coming to light now that people are taking a breath and actually READING the bill.
For every one good thing it does, it does three or four that are horrendous.
And yes, increasing the debt after DOGE went and did all that work is an insult...
Political theatrics are not a one party issue.
I never thought Musk would crawl into bed with Chucky Schumer and his RATS.
None of us do.
“Any spending bill that cuts 1.6 units but adds 15 units is not going to stimulate anything except inflation.”
The general lack of mathematical skills is absolutely baffling... This is like you get two free if you buy fifteen.
Thanks - gave me something to search for...seemed odd for ANYONE to speak about what Musk said without elaborating on what was said. We’re now mind readers? I’d rather not be able to read anyone else’s thoughts!

This is what Ive been saying. Would folks be happy if the GOP raised taxes to lower the deficit? The idea is to spur growth and that will take time. Revenues from a roaring energy independent economy very well could mitigate the rising deficits cuts bring.
Sorry, but the Trump tax cuts need to be renewed — and anything else in the bill that’s good enacted — even if the price is more spending than Paul and Musk want. Trump will continue the fight against spending even if we don’t get it all now.
Hopefully the situation will get resolved somehow before it becomes a powder keg.
Does the debt really have to be increased to do what’s necessary?
Instead of an 1,100+ page so-called BBB,
Speaker Johnson should pass a one sentence bill titled, “The Trump Tax Cuts are extended indefinitely“!
There the problem is fixed. Easy. Let anyone vote against that (especially democrats). Let them hassle over all the other crap later.
Call it the ”SMALLEST MOST INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BILL”!
