In a cheeky nod to Trump's card analogy, the Business Ukraine journal posted a succinct seven-word taunt aimed at Trump.
"Today Zelensky played the King of Drones," they wrote following news of the (audacious) aerial strikes.
Illia Ponomarenko, a Ukrainian defense journalist, made a pointed reference to Zelensky's public humiliation in the Oval Office.
"This is what happens when a proud nation under attack doesn't listen to all those: 'Ukraine has only six months left'. 'You have no cards'. 'Just surrender for peace, Russia cannot lose'."
Meanwhile, social media was quickly abuzz with a meme depicting a resolute President Zelensky clad in a metaphorical suit of cards.
The Ukrainian head of state had earlier been criticized for his appearance in military fatigues during a White House visit-a style he has adopted consistently since the onset of full-scale warfare.
High-level officials from Russia and Ukraine convened once more in Istanbul in an effort to rejuvenate stalled peace talks.
In an apparent move toward de-escalation, Russia proposed a "partial ceasefire" lasting two to three days, ostensibly to allow for the retrieval of soldiers killed in action from both sides.

President Trump has been uncharacteristically silent about the Zelensky and the Ukraine. Not sure that this is a good thing.

That puts that to rest. During a White House press briefing today, Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt was asked if Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy notified President Trump in advance of the attack on Russian nuclear-capable long-range bombers. Leavitt replied curtly, “he was not.”

I think it’s a good thing. I think he didn’t know. General Mikey Flynn said it is inconceivable that the CIA was not aware of this plan in the works for 18 months.
That means they kept it from him and Tulsi... OR they are utterly incompetent.
And it means Zelinsky lied to him in the White House. ANd it means hours before the negotiation meeting, Zelinsky struck 5 nuclear bomber bases, a passenger train and a freight train.
Trump is angry and is probably demanding answers and trimming his sails.
The drone attack was a brilliant move if this were a guerilla war.
But it’s not.
The Ukraine is not being occupied by the Ruskis and a regime is still in place.
Only a couple of guerilla warfare cards in the deck.
They’ve been played.
If I am to believe Karoline Leavitt and I do, they were played without Daddy Warbuck’s knowledge.
You know who that is otherwise known as Uncle Sam who in this four year term is not a vegetable but Donald Trump.
He’s the guy who undersigns the checks.

He has come to believe neither side wants peace.
Maybe Trump underestimated the little fella a bit.
But not as much as the little fella and his girl Linda Graham after underestimated Trump.

No doubt Putin invaded and is responsible for many deaths. Zelensky could have ended the war sooner and cut his loses.
Putin is the King of Dead Ukrainians and Zelensky is the Queen.
Well, it seems to me, Ukraine does not want any more US aid.
Trump's silence may indicate that dealing with Zelensky is no longer at the top of Trump's Furthering of His Agenda list of action items
If President Trump has been looking at a way to withdraw critical ISR and strategic intelligence cooperation with Ukraine, then Zelensky has just given him all the pretext he needs to terminate or restrict Ukrainian access.
So that means Trump is busy learning if the CIA was executing a plan signed off by Biden 18 months ago and kept it from him, OR if they were incompetent and it all happened under their noses.
If President Trump has been looking at a way to withdraw critical ISR and strategic intelligence cooperation with Ukraine,
And if the CIA used that ISR and spy satellite system to help them plan it and they did not loop in Tulsi and him... that is a bad problem and heads should roll.
President Trump said he was preventing very bad things from happening to Russia.
Putin ignored the comment.
Then very bad things happened.
Coincidence?
Looks like Deep State is alive and well.
President Trump could send SOCOM guys into Russia and have them send video feeds of the the team dancing naked on the wings of those bombers to the beat of the Village People’s YMCA before they blew them up if he wanted to.
There is a reason that he does not.
Just because you can do something does not mean you should do it.

The drones are a poor man’s air force. If he had received the jet fighters he requested, he wouldn’t have needed 18 months prep to mount this operation.
* US defense spending is 3% of GDP, so this was a substantial sum.
