I’m waiting on rain today, too. Very hazy here again today from the Canadian wildfires.
Funny, none of the EnviroWeenies seem to be concerned about how Canada is destroying the Earth. Wonder why that is? ;)
Nice day here in Ctrl MO today. I start doing the Fri-Mon weekend shift this week so I work tomorrow and then get Tues/Wed/Thurs off. Tues/Wed nice, then Thurs starts back with the chance of rain every day through Saturday, so far.
Watered under the high tunnel/roof today. This will be the 2nd time this year which is crazy being under a roof but with so much rain, it’s crept in sideways under it and was even downright mucky a couple of times.
Time for some tomato plant support too. Gonna try the Florida Weave. Everything’s determinate slicers this year so they won’t get tall enough to bother with lean and lower like the crazy cherry maters I’d been growing. Then again, I think I have a piece of cattle panel long enough to lash them all to. Either way, two t-posts and whatever for the 12 foot row.
Put an alternator in the little car last weekend and noticed my A-frame was rusted through. Clamped some steel on it to get by and the new one will be here tomorrow and will be installed Tues. It needs a tune up and a few other little things soon too.
Next up is a new waterpump for the truck so it’s drive-able again. Took almost two gallons of water to get home one day and I could wobble the fan a bit so it’s sat since then. Brand new Melling(good ole brand), Made in the USA for $140 ain’t bad. Melling was known for making about the best oil pumps back in the day. I think they made a lot for the OEM market.
Both vehicles need registrations renewed which means inspections, pay personal property tax, renew insurance and then registrations. At least I have some weekdays off now for that sort of thing. My 60 day review is a week away so I should get a little raise and I get a 20% shift differential for the 20 hours for Sat/Sun. Ought to help a little.
Few more paychecks and I might be able to get some stuff for me and the high tunnel.
There’s a couple of 12 foot step ladders on CL right now, $75/$100, so I might try to squeeze one in the budget next week. Need one to work on the peaks of the tunnel ends and you don’t see them up for sale often. Always plenty of 6 and 8 footers but not 12s and both are in good shape, fiberglass, and $100 or less is a really good deal.
