0:17·I recently made a video about the Roman
0:19·do decahedron an enigmatic ancient
0:22·bronze object with 12 pentagonal faces
0:25·featuring various sized holes and
0:27·protruding knobs where the corners of
0:29·each face meets archaeologists and
0:31·historians commonly associate it with
0:34·the Roman Empire however a closer
0:36·examination of its distribution
0:39·contextual evidence and cultural
0:41·significance strongly suggests that
0:43·these intriguing objects may in fact
0:46·have Celtic Origins not Roman I was
0:49·going to mention it in the previous
0:50·video I made but I took that paragraph
0:53·out while I was editing as I decided to
0:55·look into it more and keep that video
0:57·specifically on the subject of what it
1:00·could have been potentially used for
1:02·which includes a compilation of the
1:04·different ideas and creative practical
1:06·uses of the design of the do decahedron
1:08·that people have suggested and
1:10·experimented with I'll link that video
1:12·in the description if you would like to
1:14·watch that after this video so now let's
1:16·get into its potential Celtic origin and
1:19·take a look at the evidence I've
1:21·compiled to support it firstly we'll
1:23·look at the estimated dating of these
1:25·objects these do decahedrons are
1:28·primarily made of bronze a copper tin
1:30·alloy which being made from metal
1:33·doesn't contain any organic material so
1:35·the items themselves can't be directly
1:38·radiocarbon dated rather the estimated
1:41·dating of these objects is done
1:43·indirectly by radiocarbon dating organic
1:46·materials from the same location that
1:48·they were found and the regions where
1:50·most of these do decahedrons have been
1:52·discovered were part of the Roman Empire
1:54·from around the 1st to the 5th Century
1:56·CE which is why they were dated to that
1:59·time and are commonly considered Roman
2:01·artifacts over 130 DOA hedra have been
2:05·found so far and most of them were found
2:08·in areas that were once part of Celtic
2:10·Gul and Britain which the Roman Empire
2:13·took control of notably these artifacts
2:16·have predominantly been found in France
2:19·Belgium and neighboring countries which
2:22·coincidentally up until around 100 BCE
2:25·is almost an exact overlay of Celtic Gul
2:28·and Britain which were gradually
2:31·conquered by the Roman Empire over the
2:33·next couple of centuries so is it really
2:36·just a coincidence that every DOA hedron
2:39·has been found in just these regions I
2:41·find that hard to believe even when the
2:44·Roman Empire ruled these regions Celtic
2:47·culture still held much influence in
2:50·many places up until around the 5th
2:52·Century CE which coincidentally lines up
2:55·with the later estimated dating of these
2:57·objects plus the fall of the Roman
2:59·Empire was during the latter half of the
3:02·fth century in the year
3:04·476 in contrast no do decahedron has
3:08·been Unearthed in Italy or other core
3:10·Roman territories which you would expect
3:12·something this unique and widespread to
3:15·also be found if it was actually an item
3:17·created by the Roman Empire this
3:20·Geographic disparity alone pulls into
3:22·question the commonly held belief that
3:24·the do decahedron is a Roman invention
3:27·and certainly suggests quite strong ly
3:30·to me that these artifacts most likely
3:32·did originate from Celtic culture
3:34·another thing to note is that the Kelts
3:36·particularly The Druids were well known
3:39·for their oral Traditions rather than
3:41·keeping written records like the Romans
3:43·did the majority of writings we have
3:45·about The Druids come from Greek and
3:47·Roman writings and not The Druids
3:50·themselves The Druids would pass their
3:52·education religious practices and
3:54·worldviews down through generations via
3:57·word of mouth so their lack of document
4:00·keeping could also support why we find
4:02·no writings or depictions of the do
4:04·decahedrons if they relied on Word of
4:07·Mouth to pass down the knowledge and
4:08·meaning of what these artifacts were
4:10·used for the Romans may have even found
4:13·these artifacts after invading Celtic
4:15·tribes and settlements but perhaps never
4:18·knew what they were actually for a few
4:20·do decahedrons were even found with
4:23·traces of wax so perhaps these were from
4:26·some Romans using them as candle holders
4:28·instead of them just sitting there as a
4:30·useless ornament especially as they
4:32·probably looked more fancy than whatever
4:34·they were using as a candle holder
4:36·before even to this day the Druid
4:38·culture remains enigmatic and open to
4:41·interpretation with historians going
4:43·back and forth in opinions as to whether
4:45·the Roman writings of Druid practices
4:48·are actually accurate or more
4:50·politically driven to make Roman readers
4:52·think the Roman Empire was more Superior
4:55·the do decahedron itself with its
4:57·geometric precision and potential ritual
5:00·significance could also align with
5:02·Celtic craftsmanship which often
5:04·Incorporated complex patterns and
5:06·symbols into their metal work jewelry
5:09·symbolic designs and artwork if it were
5:13·a Roman artifact of significant
5:15·importance you might expect to find at
5:17·least some mention in historical
5:20·accounts or visual representations
5:22·especially as quite a lot have been
5:24·found throughout numerous regions
5:26·featuring practically the same design
5:29·yet not one mention or depiction has
5:31·been discovered of Roman origin to this
5:33·day so the lack of any Roman references
5:36·for such a widespread object may also
5:38·further strengthen the argument for its
5:40·Celtic Roots while the do decahedron is
5:43·often classified as a Roman artifact I
5:46·think the evidence I've laid out
5:47·suggests a more complex narrative to be
5:50·considered the geographic concentration
5:52·of finds in keltic regions the lack of
5:55·any finds in Italy Rome or other core
5:58·Roman regions the ab of Roman
6:00·documentation or Visual depictions and
6:03·the alignment of the doca hedin's
6:05·characteristics with Celtic culture all
6:07·point to the possibility that this
6:09·object is more closely linked to Celtic
6:12·artisanship and spirituality than it is
6:14·to Roman Innovation further research
6:17·into its Origins and functions may even
6:19·reveal deeper connections to the rich
6:21·tapestry of Celtic tradition
6:23·particularly that of The Druids who left
6:26·an enduring Legacy despite their lack of
6:28·written records the Kelts had a deep
6:31·connection to Nature geometry and the
6:33·cosmos and the do decahedron
6:35·multifaceted design might have held
6:38·symbolic meaning or served a practical
6:40·purpose in their rituals or daily life
6:43·the purpose of the doah hedron is also
6:46·still unknown and widely debated plus no
6:49·Roman item has ever been found that
6:51·could be directly associated with the
6:53·design of these artifacts to infer a
6:56·potential practical use or purpose but
6:59·as I mentioned earlier my previous video
7:01·goes deeper into the different ideas and
7:04·practical experiments of what the design
7:06·of the do decahedron could have been
7:07·used for with theories ranging from a
7:10·religious object a tool for either
7:12·measurement knitting gloves making rope
7:15·making jewelry or even a military
7:18·decoding device so check out my previous
7:21·video for an in-depth look at these
7:23·different ideas and practical
7:25·experiments as some are surprisingly
7:27·compelling but hopefully one day we will
7:29·finally Crack the Code of what this
7:31·enigmatic object was actually used for
7:34·and which culture actually created it so
7:38·what do you think I would love to hear
7:40·your thoughts in the comments below well

Why it’s the long lost and famed Hillary’s Testicle Lock Box.

I built and live in a dodecahedron. (actually, the upper three fifths of one)
Inspired by Bucky Fuller.

It would be a little ironic if even the Romans didn’t know what the hell they were good for.

Alas, no one knows anything beyond approximate dating, it’s all just speculation.
