United States President Donald Trump commented on Friday that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, are both "stubborn."
"I have known [Putin] very well. I have gone through a lot of things with him ... [But] I have gotten to see things that I was very surprised at: rockets being shot into cities like Kiev, during a negotiation that I felt was maybe very close to ending. We were gonna solve a problem, and then, all of a sudden, rockets got shot into a couple of cities," the US head of state said during a press conference.
Trump stressed that he was very disappointed with such developments, reiterating that he wants the war to stop.

Bears repeating!! Thanks for sharing that info. I wasn't aware of it.
That’s true.🤔
For Northern Bukovina and Trans-Carpathia they don’t even have the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact for a bad excuse. Stalin just stole them outright. Bukovina cost him dearly though, as it gave Hitler concerns that the Soviets were going to seize the Ploesti oilfields. The planning for Barbarossa began shortly after that.
Thanks for the further information!!
China is the one that ended up with great long term gas deals with Russia, has seen their influence grow on the world stage and within BRICS, is selling drone and military components to BOTH sides (Ukraine and Russia), which has seen their car exports literally explode in the last three years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b295TjtXR68&pp=ygURcnVzc2lhIGNhciBtYXJrZXTSBwkJsAkBhyohjO8%3D
This trend has continued through 2024: https://carnewschina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Sales-1-800x568.png
When you hear people talk about our “sanctions” and how Russia will soon crumble... junk.
All that we accomplished is to have China in particular see massive growth in market share for their products and services in Russia and US / Euro brand names fall away or go through third parties (backdoor the sanctions like Apple), or re-brand some of their stuff and create a Russian separate entity but still operate there. On that topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmO7BR_Tq04
This addresses IMHO two interesting topics, drone development and how the Chinese filled the chip / component void created when Western sources fell away: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmfNUM2CbbM
In 1960 the US was 40% of the global GDP.
In 2022 the US was 20% of the global GDP.
You have seen nations like China emerge which out produce / out manufacture us by more than two TIMES: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/manufacturing-by-country or https://www.safeguardglobal.com/resources/blog/top-10-manufacturing-countries-in-the-world/
We no longer carry the sort of weight some people here think we have.
In fact, when we want to play the “sanctions game” nations like China see that as an opportunity!
We are NOT going to cut China out of the global market or punish them for not playing along with us. We can’t do that if we tried our best and in fact we ourselves DEPEND on China as part of our manufacturing base (HP, Dell, Cisco, GM... everyone manufactures there). All we accomplished was to see US and Euro brands fade away in Russia, and Chinese brands fill the void. All we accomplished was to give China a HUGE economic boost while our non-propagandist MSM still dreams about how the Chinese market will implode soon because of some huge alleged bubble (a story that has been around for 20 years now) when it in reality continues to grow.
The IMF predicts 4% growth for China 2025.
China is predicting 5% growth in 2025.
And while we talk about Chinese bubbles and dream of their economy imploding as we print money and don’t manufacture anything anymore, we are squeezing out a whopping 1.4% growth this year!!! LOL
BUT the real problem with China is that they are not only beating us economically, they are also closing the gap technologically and militarily. China is our #1 threat militarily, and as their industry / manufacturing and tech base grows, so does the threat they pose.
It’s not Russia that is our threat. They are merely an oil and gas competitor we are trying to strip of their resources and where we want to encroach into their sphere of influence (border states). We no longer see them as a conventional near peer and we can do as we please with them, or so was the reasoning behind Ukraine.
It is China that is our true near peer today: https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/China-Military-Budget-Graphic.png?x85095/
It is China that is putting a fourth carrier to sea soon, has the military manpower, budget, industry and manufacturing base, tech, is producing true Gen 5 fighters today (J20: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chengdu_J-20 Over 300 built), mass producing drones that outpaces us...
