United States President Donald Trump commented on Friday that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, are both "stubborn."

"I have known [Putin] very well. I have gone through a lot of things with him ... [But] I have gotten to see things that I was very surprised at: rockets being shot into cities like Kiev, during a negotiation that I felt was maybe very close to ending. We were gonna solve a problem, and then, all of a sudden, rockets got shot into a couple of cities," the US head of state said during a press conference.

Trump stressed that he was very disappointed with such developments, reiterating that he wants the war to stop.

The Russian mind is not the western mind. They are quite willing to send nearly all to death, as long as there are a few who may survive and just exist.

Zelensky is a psychopathic despot that panders to neo-Nazis.

Trump needs to walk away and not give another penny to Ukraine. That way this remains Biden's war and failure.

Coin toss ya for Biden and/or Obama. You just don’t like Putin and you only know what you’ve been told. Read enough from Russia and he is a mixed bag, but more loved than any president here since Kennedy.

Ukraine ping

[The Russian mind is not the western mind. They are quite willing to send nearly all to death, as long as there are a few who may survive and just exist.]

Putin is paying 4x the average civilian salary. The risk is high, but there are enough takers to keep Russian troop numbers high for a while. Ukraine is similarly situated. Thanks to Western aid, Ukrainian combat pay is also 4x civilian pay. Despite 1/3 the population, it is close to matching Russian troop numbers due to the pay bump, and the fact that the country is being invaded, which creates a natural defensive response. In the words of that underrated movie classic Red Dawn, “because we live here”.

In WW2, the Russian food distribution system, of ration cards and scrip, meant you could fight, and feed your family or avoid service and see your family starve. Few had cultivable plots of land out of the reach of the secret police, so the men signed up to feed their kin. And in that war, it was generally understood that the alternative to fighting Germany was physical extermination by the Germans, Slavs being a group Germany intended to wipe out.

There is some truth to that, however, it's also true that they were lied to. If you have ever known someone who constantly lied to you, then you know that you lose trust in what they tell you. The west lied to Putin, and he saw that the U.S. was involved in the coup of Victor Yanukovych. Many refuse to accept the truth and they also refuse to acknowledge that Putin tried very hard to avoid the conflict escalating into a kinetic confrontation, which is where the lying to him was occurring with the Minsk Accords being used strictly to buy time to arm & train Ukraine. The goal was to engage in a proxy war using Ukraine as the battlefield, and the Ukrainians as the combatants. With the desire being to weaken Russia's military and hopefully having Putin be deposed by the Russian people.

It was an ill-advised plan that was doomed to fail, because of what you eluded to. The Russian mind is not like the western mind. They will not backdown. They will keep on fighting until they either defeat their opponent, or they are defeated.

That being said, I still believe that Putin is still looking for an exit ramp, but on his terms, now that it has progressed to this point They are still in the driver's sear, and they want some concrete commitments that NATO will not continue the expansion into Ukraine, but also Georgia which he has repeatedly stated were red lines as far as he & Russia were concerned.

Nonsense. Anyone who clings to power through 5 terms isn’t there because he’s popular, he’s there because he’s rigged the elections, he’s a violent thug and corrupt as Hell and no one wants to meet an untimely end by telling it like it is.

I see lots of Euros, US congress critters, leftists, all quite willing to keep that war going. They must share that same “Russian mind”.

Here are a few clowns who are plotting and planning how they will backstab Americans consorting with a person who is not an ally.

It wasn't Russia that started two World Wars.

They kind of did. In 1914, Czar Nicky mobilized his troops, despite the pleadings of his cousin, Kaiser Willie.

And then they agreed with the Nazis to carve up Poland, which allowed WWII to start.

Zelenski is stubborn the same way any leader of a country that has been invaded would be stubborn, and simply wants the invaders to leave.

Putin on the other hand is stubborn because he wants to be remembered as the leader the reassembled the soviet union. He is stubborn because of his ego, and is willing to murder millions to achieve his goal
