I can't believe those fools glued it to the ceiling. How does one get it off without destroying the drywall?
Out of all the options available from human input it still picked the wrong ones...
Put a drywall saw to it? That is a bit “untactful” isn’t it?
Try to heat it gently with a heat gun. Some glues will relax their hold if heated.
Don’t melt the medalion
Don’t burn yourself
Don’t set the ceiling on fire
Use a Bernzomatic torch to heat it. After the house burns down, rebuild it without a medallion on the ceiling. ;-)
Oh no!! Guess you’ll just have to sell the house.
A mirror on the ceiling is tacky and tasteless.
I recommend you hang a disco mirror ball.
Sharpned putty knife, rubber mallet small container o dry wall plaster some touch up paint.
Heat gun to soften the glue..........
I feel your pain. We recently had a ceiling light and fan co come crashing down to within about 3 feet of a computer, coffee table and me. It was attached to a flimsy trim board with thin wire nails. We can only assume it was added on well after the hou9se was completed. It was hanging by 3 thin wires, which we had to cu9t to get it safely down. The electrician we hired to install a new one one was incredulous that it stayed up there that long. Count you9rself lucky!
I’m in my 70s and I’ve never heard of such a thing. I have no idea what it might be.
I believe that was like a last resort option. After all, it may play stubborn on ya when all else fails. 😋
You left off the Cramp Easy Lube Shortening.
Use drywall mud and match the texture of the surrounding ceiling. Dress with whipped cream and a cherry...wait. I’m getting kind of old and my mind wanders.

Thank You. Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a wandering mind...
Piano wire
I’ve done it....
Houses are manufactured, not built.
Like cars and other consumer products, they are designed to minimize assembly time (and costs) with no concern for the difficulty of later repairs or maintenance. That’s why it can cost you hundreds to replace a two dollar part in a car.
In other words, glues are cheaper than screws.
I used a putty knife to open a gap to insert the claws of a claw hammer and it popped off. There is some damage to the drywall and I'm going to have to scrape some adhesive off but Texture-In-A-Can should fix it up.
Thanks for the response. Why anybody would put one of those things up in the first place, is a mystery. Nostalgia, I guess.
You've never seen one of these?
And shortcuts people take. It's their home for Pete's sake.
Nope. Must not be a thing in Alaska.
Ha!
Pretty much.
