A Colombian radiology specialist says a mysterious metal orb discovered in his country is an unidentified flying object (UFO) of extraterrestrial origin, though experts remain skeptical of the claim.
Jose Luis Velasquez, the radiology specialist, determined the extraterrestrial origin after inspecting the object and finding no marks indicating the metal orb had been welded together or contained joined parts in any way, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter, from a creator who labels their content as entertainment.
The object - known as the "Buga Sphere" - was discovered in Buga, Colombia earlier this year, according to video in the social media post.
Images of the orb show a silver-colored sphere about the size of a bowling ball covered in what appears to be foreign text and drawings.

Newsweek reached out to Velasquez via email for comment on Sunday during non-working hours.
Why It Matters
After decades of denying any knowledge of UFOs, the Pentagon released a report in November of 2024 regarding unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) following a congressional hearing in which House lawmakers urged for greater transparency.

What To Know
Dr. Tim Gallaudet, a retired Rear Admiral [...] was one of four witnesses who spoke during the congressional hearing about UAP last year.
The Admiral said the discoveries led him to the "new realization that we are not the only advanced intelligence in the universe."
"As a former science agency leader, I have always sought the truth in human knowledge and thought," Gallaudet said during the hearing. "Now that we know UAP are interacting with humanity, and these include unidentified submerged objects (USOs) in the ocean, we should not keep our heads stuck in the sand but boldly face this new reality and learn from it."

You twisted my words to create a strawman.
Don't be stupid. I didn't say or mean that. And you know it.
Objectivity is required for scientific investigation. If your mind is already biased, you will discover only that which confirms your bias.
If other celestial civilization have not broken the speed of light travel there are no visitors from the beyond on earth. However, just assume other civilizations have not broken the speed of light but sent probes just for exploration to any radio signal they could detect. The transit time could be millions of years. Not important. They are just curious.
Look into the concept of confirmation bias.

I try to employ logic when pondering issues like this.
That was a great show.
Bruce and Julius played so well off each other.
Me too.
We have the series on DVD. I should watch it again.
It’s around here as well, somewhere.
I have so many I need to rip and then build a SAN to store them on for my own equivalent of Pluto TV.
Ironside would probably be the first set since that show has lots of great incidental music tracks that are clean and easy to lift.
My raw, remastered HD, 4K and 5K video of my own eat storage space alive.

What we all need is high security clearances—so we have a fair shot to see the best photos and videos and make a fair determination.

No one can cast a spherical metal object? How do they make ball bearings? Or bb’s?
First thing I thought of.
He’s better looking than the other Betz, too...

Does anyone know if Musk’s DOGE colleague ‘Big Balls’ is missing anything?
Carl was a fairly good actor.
He was in one of my favorite Streets Of San Francisco episodes “The Bullet”.
As I woke up from my nap this afternoon my wonderful wife (Today's her birthday) was watching PBS . And I can say those people look really REALLY weird. They look like they were made up from parts of different people. The hairline, or the brow would be...odd. Sometimes one eye would appear to be lower then the other. Or the necks unusual long. They talked with unusual accents that I couldn't place. It's enough to creep you out. It did me anyways.... :(
