@RandPaul
Only in Washington does a “budget” mean spending more.
Paraphrasing/Notes:
I supported the tax cuts. I support making them permanent
I support spending cuts even though they're wimpy [in the bill].
The problem is the math doesn't add up.
They're exploding the debt...
The deficit will be $2.2 trillion. We used to say that's Biden spending, Biden-omics.
There has to be someone left in Washington that says debts and deficits are Wrong.
This is just not a serious proposal.
Regarding the 'free' stuff (Medicare, Medicaid and SNAP), we're borrowing the money, which means more inflation.
There is no free stuff because it means inflation. It's a bait and switch, it's no good... The deficit is the biggest threat to our country.
I get criticized but I'm the one ringing the alarm bell here: THEY'RE NOT DOING ANYHING! We have the majority but there's No recission package (of DOGE cuts), no cuts, nothing for conservatives!
RE: Tulsi Gabbard put on terror watch list: This is offensive to every civil liberty in this country. I will get to the bottom of this. This is a real problem and I think they might be monitoring more members of congress or ex-members of congress.
I want to find out who came up with this idea to put Tulsi Gabbard on a terror list and they need to be [fired]

Rand has been there since 2011.
Q: Has he ever passed anything that reduced the size or cost of Gov?
A: No
He has tried every year to cut spending. He has a budget every year called the Penny Plan you might be familiar with it. Lucky to get 20 votes
Unfortunately, his asinine attack on all tariffs (just to show how he is standing up to the evil orange man) destroyed his credibility on everything.
Yah can’t go around defending flat earth nutjobs and then expect your other positions to be respected. No. If yah wanna ride the fence on a particular issue you have to be ambiguous. He was not. He attacked DJT just to show that he could do that. His argument on this issue here might be great, but I will not waste my time trying to sort out the partisan crappola.
He can’t do it by himself.
He can’t do it by himself.
But he is by himself.
So he can’t do it.
Maybe he should give up on the whole “I will personally stop deficit spending” concept.
Help Trump get a handle on the Deep State. Pass his bill.
He’s not a team player - Rand thinks he’s been elected President and HE gets to make the calls. What a jerk.
We need the libertarian wing on our side just like the left needs the squad. Rand thinks he’s another Joe Mancin. It’s in the DC water.
Trump wants this passed. Let’s go!
Tariffs are not going to be enough. Meager spending cuts are not going to be enough. Even tax increases are not going to be enough.
We need to cut overall spending, long term, by about 10% across the board.
The ONLY thing that would convince the politicians to give up their spending habit is something akin to a national heart attack. And even then, the “national cancer” has debilitated the patient so far that it would be too little, too late.
Financially, the country is screwed.
Rand Paul has established himself as a good talker, accomplishing nothing while frequently derailing forward progress in fixing America’s issues. If he were serious he would have come up with concrete suggestions or bills that can be acted on rather than just opining.
All of his rhetoric is posturing, disingenuous. All hat; no cattle.
Shannon Bream, same bent as Chwissy Wallace, but a bit easier on the eyes.
Faux News is dead to me.
“””RE: Tulsi Gabbard put on terror watch list: This is offensive to every civil liberty in this country. I will get to the bottom of this.”””
Sure, Rand. Just like all the other things you talk about but never do.
The plan is to grow our way out of some of the debt & deficit. That has been explained by several of the financial cabinet including Scott Bessent. They have facts, figures and projections. I’m on board.

So what's the point of having DOGE if there's no serious intentions of using their findings to make deep cuts in spending? It appears that DOGE has been used as a political facade to make it appear that there will be cuts.
Excellent post.
I understand the plan. I simply don’t think it’s enough.
The second that the Congress sees a nickel more come through the door, they will spend a dime. There is no discipline.
“Hoping” for lower interest rates is a pipe dream.
What I DO think is that the second the bill is passed, work needs to start on a real budget. Without some sort of bi partisan movement (meaning you need to get a cloture vote in the Senate) nothing of any significance can be passed.
The system remains stymied. And that just leads to rot.
Another more targeted Bessent article.
I hear what you’re saying but...its going to be hard to grow the economy when the consumer is tapped out (after a long period of inflation) and debt loads are historically high. We are a consumer driven economy and the consumer has been weakened over the past four years. That’s not something that can be quickly fixed IMO.
Because the significant savings from DOGE will require major investments in technology. The amount of BS spending (the Iraqi Sesame Street stuff as an example) is actually pretty small in terms of the overall budget. Cutting that is a good start, but doesn’t change the trajectory of our spending.
Major cuts would have to happen where there is major spending: Defense, Healthcare, and Social Security.
Who is going to tackle that?
