Two of the WNBA's best young stars had to be separated during the second half of Saturday afternoon's season-opening contest between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky.
Following a hard foul from Caitlin Clark on a layup that found Angel Reese on the ground, the Sky forward quickly jolted herself up off the floor and went after the Fever guard. She was held back by teammates—and a referee—as Clark walked away from the scuffle.
Here's a look at both the play and the resulting drama:
Clark was assessed a flagrant foul on the play, while both Reese and Clark's teammate, Aliyah Boston, received offsetting technical fouls.
As for the game itself, the Fever held a 20-point lead over the Sky in the third quarter, with Clark pouring in 14 points on 4 for 10 shooting and Reese tallying 10 of her own.

Reese is pure trash.
She thinks she’s worth millions, but the Bayou Barbie couldn’t even fill half a stadium in Louisiana.
She’s a blight in women’s sports and I can’t wait for karma to kick her bitt and rip off those terrible eye lashes.
Leave it up to the media to create controversy where none ever happened..........
Angel Reese tries to take her eye out with a delivery attack and nothing happens.
Angel Reese flops on the ground like LeBron and they give Caitlin Clark a technical.
The West Nebraska Bowling Association? I care!
Right you are. Clark was standing up for her teammate.
What a flop. I’ve played A LOT of basketball, and never seen someone go flying after something so simple. Maybe CC is superhuman, but come one.
Nothing beats Kevin McHale’s clothesline of Kurt Rambis in the play-offs, though.
Umm many look like trannies.
And nothing will make the wnba better at all. Its a massive tax write off for the 100% sponsor, the NBA.
I have no idea why mens basketball is expected to keep afloat womens basketball.
Why is Caitlin so racist?
Sadly, CC already capitulated by talking about her “white privilege”.
Reese was the first fowl in that little bitchy altercation.
Fake drama and beefs, wife-beaters and nouveau riche teenagers, nothing now but a string of garbage talk on the floor, and 3-pointers from 4-point range, with the occasional put-back by luck. Defense is ded (Celtics lofl).
NBA was the first major sports org to succumb to the ferals and their collective in-identity, free to be painted upon by schnorrers galore. RIP.
Guranteed contracts ruined the NBA.
Once they get their big contracts, there's no incentive for them to maintain a quality product.
Well yeah, but eventually the anti-white hatred part of her success will fade away hopefully if she can keep her head in the game and just keep doing the job.
My response to the cheek thing is, you only have two cheeks.
The WNBA has become a metaphor for United States society to me. Every time Caitlin Clark plays in the WNBA cesspool of lesbian, racist, probably tranny freaks she overcomes the bullying assaults, the bias officiating, the failure of the league or her teammates too protect her from every game beatings and did it all without responding in kind for her entire rookie season.
It wasn't that Clark was afraid of anyone but because Clark just wanted to change the WNBA in a way that wouldn't destroy it at the same time. A white, straight, mid-western generational ballplayer decided to change the WNBA by bringing the entire league with her into the riches that 25 years of a WNBA cesspool could not BY JUST PLAYING REAL BASKETBALL. Funny thing is the cesspool hates Clark for it but everyone of them will benefit from her approach.
Clark spent the entire off season working on every aspect of her game in daily workouts that only a few of the most elite athletes in the world could endure or even complete. The new Clark is much bigger, much stronger, more explosive off the initial movement and able to laugh and walk and run through contact that would have rocked her last year while still being the best pure shooter in basketball with virtually unlimited 3 point shot range.
So now we come to Clark's Indiana Fever 2025 season game opener against the Angel Reese Chicago Sky, a team that lead the league in flagrant technical fouls in 2024 of which the most vicious would warrant assault charges and jail time on the street. The person assaulted, almost exclusively, was of course Caitlin Clark. Former Chicago Sky 2024 players Diamond DeShields and Chennedy Carter are now de facto banned from the WNBA, probably for life because of those fouls. The third culprit was the wonderful Angel Reese. Angel was a little more subtle in getting her shots in on Clark but no less vicious or less frequent while leading the cheers for the other 2 goons when they took their runs at Clark. Angel remained unpunished for her actions until today and it was Angel who initiated the entire incident with her shove to the back of another Indiana Fever player going after a rebound.
After Angel shoved the other Fever player completely out of bounds and secured the contested rebound Angel moved towards the basket to score. AT this point Clark grabbed the ball held by Angel wrestled for possession with the much bigger Angel and put Angel on her enormous ass with an ease that was eye opening.
Angel jumped up mouthing off to Clark while moving towards Clark back Fever player Boston raised a hand to keep them separated without touching anyone as Clark looked over her shoulder at Reese.
And then I saw the look on Reese's face. It was the look of the bully trying to figure out how her favorite smaller target for a year had just put her on her ass in front of a packed stadium with consummate ease.
You could probably smell the burning rubber from her sneakers when Angel wised up and hit the brakes because I'm pretty sure Clark was not going to keep walking away.
The WNBA has become a metaphor for United States society to me.
Agreed.
I don’t think WNBA refs know what a traveling violation is. It is amusing watching YouTube videos of their players taking 4 or 5 steps, or stop, and then start dribbling again. And what is with the three foot long weaves attached to their heads, and wearing a sleeve on one leg? It’s a freak-show, not a sporting event..
Exactly right. That was not a “hard foul”, and even less so when compared to what Clark has received from the “oppressed” members of the WNBA.
Nothing burger play. Looks like a pre planned WWF fake outrage situation.
