‘Stop Your Car!’: Cheerleader Removes Barrier, Plows Into Cop On Way To Work, Video Shows

A 28-year-old former college cheerleader and self-described honor student plowed into a Maryland police officer and nearly hit pedestrians at a street fair in Laurel Saturday, all because she couldn’t be late to work.

Kai DeBerry-Bostick, a graduate of Bowie State University and a member of the Zeta Delta sorority, according to the New York Post, is now facing assault charges after brazenly ripping down police tape and driving into a closed festival zone Saturday morning, bodycam video released by police shows.

“I need to get out, I need to get out,” DeBerry-Bostick can be heard saying, before informing the officer on video, “I gotta go.”

The officer, who remained composed despite the tantrum, offered to call her a cab — an offer she dismissed. In the video, she defies orders and yells, “I got to go to work! What do you want me to do?”

The woman got into her car, pushed past the officer and onto a street filled with pedestrians. As her car rolled dangerously close — within feet — of a man pushing a stroller, the cop is seen screaming at her to stop.

Festival-goers scattered in panic. The officer sustained minor injuries while attempting to stop the vehicle, and DeBerry-Bostick was ultimately yanked out of the car and cuffed on the street, the video shows. She is now in custody and facing multiple charges, including assault resisting arrest and reckless endangerment, NBC Washington DC reported.

The Laurel Police Department confirmed that no civilians were injured, though a separate incident — a propane tank explosion at a booth — forced the cancellation of a planned parade later in the day.

DeBerry-Bostick’s background makes the story all the more surreal. She was an honor student, cheerleader, and seemingly honor student at Bowie State.

It is not whether she knew of another way but that apparently there WAS no other way. The police officer offered her no detour information. So she was essentially blocked into her parking lot.

Thomas Sowell has stated in the past - that our education system is not teaching individuals how to think.

And apparently all those people work for the city if they were blocking off all exits to a residential area.

I know the city lobotomized sloths do not work on Saturday but the rest of the world does.

This is a city that is apparently unable to do safety inspections as one of the food trucks at this street fair actually blew up. I doubt their ability to lay out an closed off area without blocking residents in is any better then their ability to keep trucks leaking gas out.

I looked at the video again. She is not coming out of a parking lot. The video shows a street behind her. A dollar to a donut she is one of the millions of drones that only know one way in and out of where she lives. Laural is a suburb of DC and if you look at the video, it looks like if she did a 180 and drove the opposite direction, she could have found a street to bypass the blocked area. I used to work in Washington, DC, as well as Northern Virginia and I made it a point to know multiple ways to get to work or to go home.
