I’ve always thought that if the victim’s family gets to make victim impact statements that the defendant should get to bring on “Assailant Impact” statements.
“Your honor, we are glad he killed the guy. He was an alcoholic bum and troublemaker all his life. It’s good he’s dead your honor.”
This was not the man. It is a construct, not a human.
Don’t care about the motives of the constructor, “good” or “bad”.
This was not a human being.
“Turn the other cheek” is all and good. But God is a God of justice as well. He should’ve gotten more time.
