Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) on Wednesday proposed legislation to eliminate the intelligence community’s surveillance tools that “erode” Americans’ civil liberties.
“For over two decades, rogue actors within our U.S. intelligence agencies have used the PATRIOT Act to create the most sophisticated, unaccountable surveillance apparatus in the Western world,” Luna said in a written statement to Breitbart News.
Luna introduced the American Privacy Restoration Act, a bill that would repeal the USA PATRIOT Act, a sweeping September 11th, 2001 terrorist bill that drastically expanded government surveillance.

you go girl! drive a stake into the heart of the bushie, uniparty deep state.
Strike a lethal blow to the globalist deep state now controlling us?
Never happen...
Ms Luna somewhat damaged her credibility as a conservative by bringing forth the Luna Bill, :This centered on whether the lower chamber should allow new parents in congress to vote remotely around the birth of their child. The majority of the GOP does not agree with surrendering one’s vote to a Proxy, who may vote their own way.
A bill that should have never been passed. Good luck getting rid of it.
It came pretty close to failing.
It’s now a mainstream conservative idea to get rid of this stuff. Trump will almost certainly agree.
The Government always takes advantage of the populace during a crisis, whether following 911 or during Covid, people lose freedoms.

An old Government trick/LIE when the New York State Thruway began collecting tolls, it was initially planned as a temporary measure. The tolls were supposed to be removed in 1996, after the highway was completed and the bonds that funded it were paid off. However, this did not happen, and tolls are still being collected on the Thruway.
The PA was very popular on the FR as I recall.
Tonight
I want to see if the Democrats vote for it.
You recall correctly. I’m just glad most people here have seemingly evolved and now understand that it’s continued authorization is a mistake.
she’s 100% right about this...but she won’t get much political support sadly.
“Governments’ programs, once launched, never disappear.” “The closest thing to eternal life on earth is a Government Program.” (typed in my best Ronaldus Magnus voice)
GW Bush’s real ‘legacy’.
Rule of thumb -- If a law has a cutesy-poo acronym, it is evil.
Along with the two costly wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And hopefully that monstrous dynasty calling themselves the Bushes never have any real political power ever again.
