The White House is very concerned with young people’s babymaking. President Donald Trump is considering ideas like a $5,000 “baby bonus” for new moms to encourage a baby boom, a step down from an even more ambitious $5,000 child tax credit idea from Vice President JD Vance, a longtime evangelist for encouraging more kids. “I want more babies in the United States of America,” he declared in his very first public speech as vice president.
“Pronatalism,” the belief that the government should directly address America’s falling birth rates, is not inherently conservative, but it’s rapidly gaining momentum in the MAGA movement. In addition to Vance, the crusade to Make America Have Babies Again has a strong supporter in Elon Musk, who practices what he preaches.
But Trump and his allies’ plans for a “baby boom” do not line up with what people of childbearing age in this country are saying.
According to a Harvard Institute of Politics Youth Poll conducted in March, less than half of young adults under 30 say having a child is important to them. In a list of life goals, having kids came in last for the young people surveyed by the Harvard poll.
In theory, adding some kind of tax benefit might help — 86 percent of young adults say financial security is important — but in my experience interviewing fellow Gen Zers, and researching polling data around their decisions, cash remedies do not address the root causes behind why young people are having fewer children. Something more fundamental has changed, both in how women view their own lives and how they relate to men — and conservative men, specifically — that a bigger refund can’t solve.

In 20 years there’s going to be more voting Republican babies than Democrat babies

I hope so. In fact, I wish the demonrat party ceases to exist in any way.
It should be a very eye opening experience for them.
Why not? The Democrats bought more babies easily enough with welfare checks.
Are there any married couples out there thinking, “We do not want to have kids, but if the government will give us $5k, we will!”
Operation Rescue’s Randall Terry told this story about a protest at the Supreme Court sometime in the late 1980-early 1990 timeframe.
Both sides were toe-to-toe that day, and Terry stopped everybody and matter-of-factly told the leader on the other side “we’re going to win”.
“How do you figure that?”
Then Terry started polling the pro-abort side: how many kids do you have?
“None”, “0”, “0”, “1”, “None”...
Then he turned around to his own people and asked the same question.
“5”, “7”, “3”, “4”, “5”...
“That’s why we’re going to win.”
Too many young people, both men and women, do not see marriage and family as important life goals.
How did we get here?
Are too many just overgrown adolescents? Do they just want to have fun in life, and not be responsible for children?
Do many, particularly young women, focus on career development, and they can’t see how they would ever fit a child into such career development.?
Do many wonder how the heck they will ever afford a house to make a home for children., considering how damn expensive houses are nowadays in many parts of the country?
Do many, both men and women, think they can just put off indefinitely making decisions about having children, then buy the time they do decide to try for children, their fertility has declined , and it just doesn’t happen for them?
Stupid is as stupid does.
I’ve always thought that abortion kills future taxpayers- it also kills future voters.
Without more babies, in time muslims will control the vote and goodbye America.
Agreed—it is not our goal to convince leftist women to have kids.
I think that is a very plausible reason why they are pushing open borders. They know their demographics are worse than ours so they are literally implementing (trying to) a plan that could destroy the USA so that they might continue holding power for a few more terms.
It’s as good an explanation as any I’ve heard.
Unfortunately, not all the children of pro-life parents will be pro-life, especially when indoctrinated in government-run learning centers.

It’s been working for the Democrat’s favorite voting bloc, welfare queens.
In my view the leftists want open borders for ideological reasons.
They do not want the United States and western nations to continue to exist at all.
If the entire world becomes third world it makes it easier for a one world government to rule the planet.
Yeah, they’re losing by their own hand as well. The radicals will try to take over the establishment left if ActBlue falls apart and this will result in even more moderate dems fleeing.
The real thing the conservatives should do now is convince single women how the dems deceived them and made their lives hollow and pointless. If Dems start losing single women/single moms, then you can say goodbye.
Why not?
