Former defense officials raise concerns about unexplained drone and UAP threats to U.S. airspace

Former senior defense officials issued stark warnings to lawmakers Thursday about intensifying threats posed by unattributed drone incursions and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) reported around the U.S. — particularly over military bases, assets, and nuclear facilities.

“I don’t think the public is aware of the extent of our airspace vulnerabilities and failures, and the degree to which they’ve already been exploited and are being exploited today, and the challenge that we face in trying to sort this out,” Christopher Mellon, the former deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence, said during an event hosted on Capitol Hill by the UAP Disclosure Fund and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

...

During a separate panel at the engagement, [Retired Rear Adm. Tim] Gallaudet also pointed to his frustrations with what he referred to as “over-classification and a deliberate, decades-long disinformation campaign by the U.S. Department of Defense and the intelligence community.”

He and the other participants further discussed recent examples of UAP encounters shared by commercial pilots and military officials who experienced them firsthand.

“Consider the extraordinary report I received this weekend when a former U.S. Navy SH-60 Seahawk helicopter crew chief, who was embarked on the carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2021, described to me his reporting on forward-looking infrared video of a metallic sphere at an altitude a few 100 feet above the ship, traveling along a linear trajectory, horizontal to sea surface before it accelerated into the horizon at incredible speed, disappearing completely upon landing,” Gallaudet said.

“Moreover, this was not an isolated event for the Eisenhower Strike Group. During that deployment they saw many, many instances of UAP — primarily F-18s frequently encountering them at high altitude, and this topic was widely discussed by the Air Wing during the entire deployment,” he said.

Take his security clearance so he can go get a real job if he needs one.

I was listening to a podcast the other night that had the reporter on that first reported all the drone activity in Nebraska and Colorado years ago. He said it’s still ongoing and no one is saying anything.

It cannot all be false. Something is going on. What that is, at this point, I do not know. But something is up (there).

Are you saying that unidentified drones (that may be Chinese) flying over our military bases with impunity shouldn't be dealt with?

And this man's security clearance should be pulled because he is testifying about them?

Are you employed by China?

This guy isn’t claiming the drones are Chinese, he is claiming they are offered technology.

In short, he is nuts, or has some other agenda.

He is a former Hillary Clinton staffer, so most likely he has a hidden agenda.

***

A former member of the Clinton administration is being linked to a bombshell Senate Intelligence Committee memo outlining a strategy to use information gathered by the committee to help drive President Bush from office in 2004.

In an editorial Friday, the Wall Street Journal reports:

“[Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-WV] refuses to denounce the memo, which he says was unauthorized and written by staffers. If that’s the case, at the very least, some heads ought to roll. A good place to start would be minority staffer Christopher Mellon, who serves as deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence in the Clinton administration.”

The FAA’s 24/7 surveillance systems can detect improper air traffic, within seconds.

The systems integrate surveillance data to provide immediate visual signals.

No, are you? People who leave the government service have no need for a clearance anymore, as we have seen numerous times in the last 4 months.

I trust my current president to handle what needs handling. Do you or do you like Soetero/Biden lackies giving you advise?

Look at his entire testimony on the video upthread. It runs from the 2 hour mark to the 3 hour mark. He testifies as to both unidentified drones and UAPs.

Both are flying with impugnity above our military installations.

For example, for 17 consecutive days in November and December, 2023, Langley AFB was nightly buzzed for hours by unidentified drones/UAPs. It was so bad that the Air Force had to move F-22s to a Navy base because they could not secure the airspace.

No one knows what those craft were (whether drones or UAPs). They could not be tracked back to their point of origin and their controllers were not identified. This was a major national security failure.

He is a former Hillary Clinton staffer, so most likely he has a hidden agenda.

That's a lie.

Chris Mellon started his career as an aide to Senator William Cohen, a Republican from Maine. Cohen later became Secretary of Defense under President Clinton.

That's how Mellon got to the DoD. And he also served under Bush.

Mellon's role with Cohen, particularly during Cohen's time as a member and then chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, gave Mellon early exposure to defense and intelligence issues—setting the stage for his later positions in the Pentagon and on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

BTW, regarding the memo you brought up, there was no public evidence that Mellon authored or approved the memo, and he was never formally accused or disciplined in connection with it.

The memo itself was controversial, but it was largely seen as internal strategy and did not result in any official ethics violations or firings.

In short: Mellon’s name was mentioned because of his senior staff position, but the link was speculative and political. No misconduct was proven, and he remained active in intelligence and defense work afterward.

I believe that social engineers are behind the ‘now you see it’ ‘now you don’t’ psychological manipulation. I think they’ve been playing with our minds. But for what purpose? To slowly bring us to wholeheartedly embrace Nordics, and the rest of the monstrous cast of characters described today as nonhuman intelligences? Or maybe to keep us unbalanced and easy to manipulate? Or are they telling us they have powerful allies on their side and we need to fear them?

Or maybe to keep us unbalanced and easy to manipulate?

This is one of the agendas in play.

I believe it is an opportunistic exploitation of other actvities currently in progress by other players.

“I believe that social engineers are behind the ‘now you see it’ ‘now you don’t’ psychological manipulation.”

My whole family watched a UFO display one evening, about four flying saucers, when I was a small kid, until we got bored with it and walked back inside.

What did the social engineers do to us that they did not do to you?

It’s surprising that you show no contrition for spreading a falsehood. Maybe it was just a mistake and not a lie—but the difference between the two is whether you take responsibility. If you don’t acknowledge the error, it starts to look intentional.

Owning up to a mistake shows maturity. Doubling down when you’re wrong does not.

I make mistakes all the time. It’s humbling—even embarrassing—to admit them, but that’s how we grow.
