I’ve read lots of books by the ancients and one of the first things I learned was to get a large unabridged dictionary to looks up all the unusual words. today’s net will even give you the the correct pronunciation.
I just cannot stand it. These people who control entertainment and media have to shove it in our faces.
I believe that you must suspend belief in many cases to enjoy certain movies, as nothing is more tiresome than some dweeb who keeps trying to point out things that could never happen.

I found it to be fascinating reading, with all kinds if interesting information.
For me it was Beowulf.
Odysseus was trying to get home but was in no hurry. He was fascinated by the world he was discovering. That’s why he listened to the song of the sirens, dallied long with Circe, etc. That’s why he refused to eat the lotuses. He did not want to forget.

It’s nothin’ compared to what I have comin’ to me from my WIFE when I get HOME! Every minute I spend away only makes it worse. Kill me. Whatever. Do what you want. But you wanna see me SUFFER?!? THEN SEND ME HOME TO MY WIFE!!! OH! OHHHHH…!!!”
