I just wonder about maintenance costs and what not
I know. It seems like it would cost a fortune to maintain those estates.
However, re the "Downton Abbey" series: I saw a story that said a man, his wife, and only one domestic help person now live in the house. They got a lot of TV money, but it still seems it would take a lot more people to maintain the place.
The King has someone arrange his teddy bears in order he wants. I read that King Charles when he was just a prince would press a button and a servant would come in and open or close the curtains. The curtain pull cord was just behind the king so he could have done this himself....
